Hi guys,

I also use MM to DJ Tango events - and I am very excited to see that there are other Tango DJs using it!
I really wanted to give the Cortinas script a whirl, but as the previous poster mentioned, the MediaFire link in the first post is dead. Any chance for a re-upload?

Version 1.11 is much much better than any other one.
I tried it for half hour; big improvements on fade in and out and no glitches at all.
I'll get back to you with more feedback and ideas! ;-)

V 1-11 is posted...

I understand exactly what you're saying. I can see it with Audacity - it's mainly a wave form editor (free) and I can see the volume levels. I understand why it was jumping and worked on the fade-in/out to resolve it. I'm quite sure it will be acceptable for you.

If you have time there are more things to check.

Fade in and fade out
I notice when the sound increase or decreases, goes well until some point then jump drastically.

Let me position your mind first.

Using the Cortina Track Form I can see the seconds running.

Fade in xx sec.
Cortina Timer xx sec.
Fade out xx sec.

Now, let me try to explain with numbers what I heart when the Cortina process start running.

For Example:

Counting up or down from 0 to 9 increasing or decreasing by 1 the count will be

0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 right? Or
9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0 Smooth process.

If I use this example to explain what I heart on fade in or out, it will be something like

Fade in 0 1 2 3 4 5 jump 8 9
Fade out 9 8 jump 5 4 3 2 1 0

The fade in goes well until the fade in timer is over. I believe that the script tries to catch up the original volume level or the one that was hard coded as 75%. Track plays until Cortina Timer is over and from that 75% volume level jump to I don’t know to start the fade out process until is over.

Then jump to the next first track of the song set.

I concluded on it because I remember that the jump was when the Fade-in timer was over and when the fade out took over.

Is that clear enough? I hope so.

I was able to replicate the problem. I could see it on the wave editor. Can you check out the latest (v1-10 is posted) and let me know if you still get the glitch?

I have been testing it with almost those exact settings.

What I'll do tomorrow is use a program called audacity and 'record' the output to an mp3 or wave file and 'look' at the wave form to see if there's any noticeable spike. It's free, you can get it here: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/. You might want to do the same and we can compare.

version 1.5 no glitches
version 1.6 glitches now and them not too many
version 1.8 / 1.9 in each transition.

You mentioned before the way you test the script is just with cortinas.
Can you use 2 different play list? one that will be the master list and the other will be cortina play list
to send to Now Playing: just for test
I 1 song from the master and 1 from the cortina. the real setting will be 3 song per songs set and one cortina
fade in=3 fadeout=5 and cortina starting point =15 and play time= 10
just to try it

After the cortina is over. The glitch is at the beginning of the first track of the master song set.

Glitch: It repeats just a little part of the song maybe half second of the track or less I dont know. but enough to notice it
I'm at home using my headphones. and I can also hear it with my Laptop's speakers

From Media Monkey / tools / options / output configuration
Not remove Silent at the beginning and end of the song and cross fade is off.

I've been running 1-8 and 1-9 and haven't heard any glitches. Can you describe exactly what you hear/see?

When do you hear them ? after a cortina? when a non-cortina track starts? when every track starts?
does the volume slider do anything unusual? Like jump to the setting and back down or anything like that?
What settings do you have for the cortina? What settings for the player? do you use the MM player or Winamp?
Hardware acceleration? Cross-fade? Remove silence? These settings are under Player/output plugins/configure.
Does your music have any silence at the beginning and/or end of the tracks?

Is it more noticeable because your sound system is really loud?

I tried the version 1.8 and 1.9 and the glitches every time start a new set of songs
I went back to version 1.5 where the fade-in and out are much much better. and I didn't hear any glitch at all.

so far... this one is the one that I like the most ( related to fade in and out and (no) glitches )
I should try to re-test this version and see where we at.

You should use whatever best fits your needs!

I did add a checkbox in options to enable the pop-up form. It's in V1-9. I left v1-8 there as well.

With v1-8 the volume is hard coded.
This request: PopUp Cortina info.: on / off (default) - you want to set that in the options panel? That shouldn't be too difficult.

Regarding scripting, I hadn't programmed in VBscript until just last year. I started by taking someone's very simple script and worked through it almost line by line trying to understand what it did and then modified it. The only book I got was O'Reilly's VBScript in a NutShell. I also read through the API (Wiki) to try to understand as much as I can about the different functions available. I've created many small scripts to test individual functions to see how they work. Eventually I was able to conceptualize how many of the pieces fit together. I did have some programming experience, albeit about 20 years old, which does help. I (and many others in this forum) are happy to help. Just ask questions, though I feel it would be beneficial to demonstrate that you've attempted it first! :)
