well if you know the stuff for several songs with out listening to them. you can then select all the songs
click on properties and the panel will show up with the information that is the same in all the files being
the only info showing. so remember that and dont fill in the info for what you think is the song showing or you will get that for every song.

but you also when you do that editing for all the selected songs get little check boxes beside the items you want to have the same on all the songs. i think they show up beside the mood boxes? and other info besides the basic tab.

so that can help in a way of mass editing same style songs. :)

but there would be some benifit in the wizard type of templete script. 8)

Its true, when you have to type the same words all over again to a particular field

Tagfields; titel, artist, year, coverart are available on the net in databases like freedb or discogs and a lot of these can be automated
and can take a lot of work out of your hands. 1 cd cost me using tagscanner about 30 seconds to tag.

After that i scan them with mixed in key http://www.mixedinkey.com/ so i have the key of everysong and bpm

Then i add them to my libary of mediamonkey, in here i want to get the best songs in someway put together again

But to put all info about the flavour of the track in to it is not a automated monkey job. You have to do it by hand

Ratings, can i play this track in a club, radio or only at home, in a box special for a specific clubnight or occation, genre with all the subs, commercial use or underground. Things you will recognise only by listening

you can tag all your housetracks, just house or rock all rock but then you lose the power of a database and don't take advantage of the filter options
which can give you an instand playlist works when you do it consistent with your own system of grouping.

But to enter all those keywords. i now use now a list of playlist and add songs to them to select them all in a later stage and enter the keywords i gave the playlist.
trouble is the more specific you tag them the longer your list will become and it becomes a jungle. specially when you have an electic taste and want to make crossovers between drum & bass to hiphop to funk to cosmic meanwhile picking up a house track on the fly.

sounds like a lot of work to do what can be done fast just by editing the properties panel for the song. :-?

Most topics on the forum are related to enter subjectiv information in to tagfields

I would be a great if there was a script that allow you to make templates for judging your collection

example; You listen to a song in "The Judge"

You click on a button called Genre and he gives you the choice of 10 or more buttons with names like rock, house, techno, disco or what ever name you gave them in your template.
When you click on house you get a new set of buttons but now with sub genres related only to the button house; electro, club, latin....

then you judge the next tag; Next to the genre is the button Mood that writes all the selected choices in there with the same amount of levels
same for location ....

A little display that shows what you gonna write in the tag fields and click on SAVE and the result could be;

Genre ; House - Electro - Bass
Mood ; Underground - Hit - Deep
Location : Club - After - Stage 02

The power should be that you are in control of what you want to write in to a tag

If i now use the toolbar like Mood, Quality or genre you get a list of all the names that are used in that tagfield even if they are not mine but filled in by the source like freedb or other even if you clean them out with the topic of subgenre you create a list of 100 at ease yourself to browse through,

So if there was a tool that can narrow the selection options by template would be a blessing

level 1 - select the field you want to tag to
level 2 - main field name
level 3 - sub related only to selected level 2
level 4 - sub sub options presented only related to Level 3 or you can get a general choice like; Stage 01, Stage 02....
level 5 - back to level 1 now to an other tag field

Then write it to the tags and move on to the next song to judge

A bonus would be if the tags would have a compatibility mode shown if you want to use them later in an other program like tractor dj

Although i have to use a lot of programmes before a mp3 enters my collection inside mediamonkey
Audiograbber, Tagscanner for editing, swapping field tags and Mixed in Key to get the key the song is made as well as the bpm

Mediamonkey is for me the player where i most of the time hear the song for the first time because it can handle large databases and have very usefull extra tagfield like mood, location to help you make playlists that end up in a dj box to play out in tractor dj but if i didn't selected or tagt in here it will not be played out,
