I'm using iTunes for the first time (only because I have to not because I want to). I'm still using MediaMonkey as my primary, just using iTunes to get music on my iPhone. When I import my MP3s into iTunes some automatically show album art and some don't. For the ones missing album art I've confirmed on the Properties-->Artwork tab that there is no picture. However, MediaMonkey shows that there is art work embedded in the file.
I pulled two songs for comparison: One that iTunes hows album art and one that iTunes shows nothing.
The one that shows up correctly in iTunes has:
2 embedded pictures, both marked "Cover (front)" one with a description of "picture".
The one that doesn't show any picture has:
1 embedded picture, marked "Cover (front") with no description.
If I save the first embedded picture to my desktop, and then re-add that file as a second embedded album art (via MediaMonkey), then delete it from iTunes, and re-imported it, iTunes will finally show the album art. This doesn't make any sense to me. Leaving 1 embedded picture and setting the description to "picture" has no effect.
I've used various rippers (WMP, MM, dbPowerAmp, J. River) over the last few years so I assume some put duplicate album art and some don't, but it would be nice if I understood what iTunes was doing before I set about fixing my entire collection.
Anyone have any idea why iTunes requires the second embedded JPG works, but the first doesn't?
Is there an easy way in MM, to find all the albums which only have 1 album art embedded? I can't tell the difference between the two JPGs, so if there was a script I could run in MM to scan all my files and automatically create the second one that was "iTunes" friendly, that would be awesome.
