Now I know

Now I know where this comes from. I had one such file too and was wondering where it came from.

BTW. when modifying tracks only in the MM DB, the updates are not in the file and as such not available to other programs. And when DB is lost all info and work you did is lost too!

When you play tracks in the internal player, files can be tagged even during the playback (it's interrupted for a fraction of second). Anyway we will check what's wrong when the file is locked by another process.

Yes, actually some of the .xxxx files remain in the temporary directory, maybe it's because the original files are still locked by winamp (i usually rate songs while i'm listening :-)) and they dont go away even after stopped playing and changed the ratings again.
So i switched to Library-only indexing for the properties and it works fine.
Thx a lot

Such files are created temporarily for adding ID3v2 tags to MP3 files, does the file persist even after the tagging? If it is the case, please try to supply some more information about the situation. Btw, you can prevent tagging of files and modify only track attributes in the MediaMonkey Library by setting an option in 'Tag' sheet of Options dialog.

I noticed that when i edit the Rating of any song in the folder of the corrispondent MP3 a file with the same name/size but a .XXXXXX extension spawns... is there any way to avoid that?? thanks.
