For me it only updates the filenames to reflect the tag changes that were necessary to fix incorrect data. Things like spelling mistakes, accents, etc. I wouldn't change the tags if I wanted to change the tags and thus there is no issue that the filenames reflect the changed tag data.

And I always use the manual Auto-Organize Files myself. I want to verify changes before making them.

I disagree on this specific point.
Once you did auto-organize once, you got rid of the previous naming/path structure.
So if that contained precious information, it's lost.

they just have to be adequately tagged to orginize them in the manner you desire.

essentially some combination of, album artist, album, artist, track number/name

besides, you don't have to auto-organize all of your files, in fact my library is always in a constant flux of checked/finished files, new un orginized files, new semi-orginized, old stuff to be cleaned up and orginized, stuff to re-rip, etc.
I agree with all you just said.
Let's say that there are different ways to accomplish this.

You don't have to have the tags perfect. You can always apply Auto-Organize again if you made tag changes. You can even set it up to do so automatically. I also recommend to use a new tracks folder for scanning in and then edit and Auto-Organize into your media collection.

It depends.

For me, even tho I took a lot of time to fix my tags, I don't use auto-organize.

I would say auto-organize is nice but only if your files are PERFECTLY tagged.

When rescaning/adding be sure you don't have your entire library or entire Album Artist selected. I had my Various Artists Albums highlighted displayed, close to 20,000 files. The scan was taking forever, I switch to a Artists that only had 2 Albums and the scan took off like a bullet. Maybe it has something to do with memory being used, not sure but if your scans are slow try slecting a small collection before starting it.
Hello.
If Mediamonkey have to read and scan the tracks at the same time, it will perform slower.
Thats why it's best to switch to a node that is empty while performing a rescan.

Tools > Options > Library > Only for files with changed timestamp or size
Btw: in the case you just added some folders to your collection, you can drag and drop it/them from explorer to the library tree node.
That will add them to the library without having to scan the rest of your library.

I would synch but it is painfully slow and takes upwards of 1 hour to find unsnched media, and even longer to apply. And even after that many songs appear 'unsynched' as if they simply wont take in the data.
You could try to select the songs that failed to synch.
Clean ID3v1 and v2 Tags.
Synchronize tags.

Tools > Options > Library, Update track info from tags when rescanning files and the sub option only for changed timestamp control this.

You might want to use the File Monitor and have MediaMonkey running while you do your changes so they're picked up without having to rescan: http://www.mediamonkey.com/sw/webhelp/f ... ibrary.htm

Hello

I have a quite large music collection, and often I move around media outside of mediamonkey. I usually use the File > Rescan Add To Library to scan folders allready in MM, just to update the new media thats there. What settings do I need to have hooked up so that media previously seen by MM is no rescanned and information for it lost?

Note: My collection is filled with unsynched tags, and I dont want to lose that information when I rescan media folders.
