Are you converting, and if so to MP3? In that case try CBR instead of VBR, Sony TV's have trouble with VBR conversion so the Sony Playstation may as well.

Just FYI, it works fine with my PS3 over Wifi.

DLNA Audio Cuts Out systematically

by ChefChaudart » Mon Jan 02, 2012 1:04 pm

Hello,

I got 2 problems streaming to my PS3 ;

1. The sound is getting low for a few seconds after starting to play.

2. The music is closed after less than 2'. ( a network error message appeared before on top right of the screen, and I use a Giga Ethernet )

That happens on EVERY piece of music.

That´s a MM issue, cause if I user PS3 media server I have no issue neither if I use directly my NAS.

Cheers

inSSIDer may help you find weakness in wireless signal: http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/

Hmmm.. I agree, it would appear to be dropouts. But I don't know what could be interfering.......
Ugh... I'll have to tinker.

Thanks for your help.

It could be network drop outs that are causing this. So although you normally have a good wireless network connection the drop outs due to interference are causing issues in that specific location or buffering on the PS3 is poor whereas other PC's don't run into this due to larger buffers.

And I don't think I have a bad wireless network. All of our laptops work well to stream anything. YouTube, Hulu, Netflix, etc.
Here are the results of the PS3 Internet Connection Test for my wireless network.

Unfortunately, I do not have another DLNA server to test out. But I did try something immediately after typing my original post. I turned off wireless on my PS3 and awkwardly strung an ether net cable through the middle of the living room - just to see if anything changed. Indeed, once my PS3 was connected via ethernet, no more audio drop outs. So that means it is something wrong with my wireless.

Crap. I have no idea what it would be. :(

I wouldn't be surprised if it is a network thing.

Do you have other UPnP servers to test with? If with them the PS3 also drops out it would probably be a network thing.

DLNA Audio Cuts Out Intermittently

I am loving the new DLNA feature in MM4 because it allows me to play my MM library over my PS3 in the main room of the house. I have got it all set up perfectly, but I am having problems with the sound cutting out intermittently while it is streaming audio. It will cut out for about 1/2 second and then come right back. This happens a couple of times per song.

Is it a network problem? My MM computer is hooked to the network via ethernet. And my PS3 is connected to the network wirelessly. Unfortunately, it is not easy for me to connect my PS3 via ethernet.

Any tips or suggestions on what I can do to stop the audio from cutting out? Thanks!
