Hi,
For the past few days, I've been trying to get MediaMonkey to act as a music renderer for FLAC files that are stored on my new Synology NAS, unfortunately without success.
Here's what I know:
- My music files reside on the Synology NAS
- I'm able to play the music using the Audio Station application (web-based), as well as on the corresponding iPhone/iPad app.
- Streaming music to Windows Media Player, controller from the Audio Station web or iPhone/iPad app is working as expected (for MP3 files).
- Streaming music to MediaMonkey, controlled from the Audio Station web or iPhone/iPad app, is not working, not for FLAC, nor for MP3. The "Allow control of MediaMonkey player via UPnP/DLNA" setting is checked.
This makes me suspect that MediaMonkey and the Synology NAS don't play well together. The funny thing in that there is some sort of communication between the two, because:
- When I adjust the volume through Audio Station, I see that the volume is MediaMonkey is adjusted
- When I initiate streaming from the Audio Station web or iOS app to MediaMonkey, the MediaMonkey playing queue is cleared, but no track is received. However, Audio Station will show this as playing.
- If I then manually start playback of any track in MediaMonkey, I'm able to pause, stop or restart this using the controls in Audio Station, although Audio Station thinks that another track is playing.
In summary, it seems that communication between Audio Station and MediaMonkey is working, but that no music is being passed between the two.
Some additional information:
- Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1
- MediaMonkey 4.0.7.1511 (but also tried 4.1.0.1629 beta)
- Synology is running DSM 4.2-3202
- Audio Station 5.0-2410
Any help to get this setup working is highly appreciated.
Thanks,
TT
