You may have removed and then rescanned the files.

it happened to me, i was going to sync all my playlist to a new sd card...old one failed so i set up everything one MM for Android and when i attempted to sync it will only sync one play list with about 20 songs it was supposed to sync 10 playlists with about 720 songs. I uninstalled the android app but it was doing the same, then i checked my playlists and all of them where empty except the one that kept syncronizing. I don't know how the other playlist on MM portable (4.1.0.1630) were emptied but i had to remove all the empty playlist from MM, export them from my original playlists on MM 4.07 and import them once again from MM portable. This time my phone was able to see the playlists and synced accordingly...Anybody have any more findings? I know my sd card was empty, i erased everything mediamonkey related on my phone so i was expecting all the playlists and songs to be transfered but instead all playlists were emptied on MM portable....??????

So we should remove other players? How can I open an m3u playlist with MMA? Tried with some explorers but MMA says that it cannot open the file.

Please Note that MMA can read M3U playlists from device, and if happen that there is M3U Playlist managed from other app it can show in MMA as empty and/or as duplicate empty list on those apps.

I think you might be on to something here. I suspect having the same playlists in multiple apps, or having multiple apps accessing MMA's playlists, causes problems somehow.

I have the Google Nexus 7. Daboa scenario is very similar to mine, except now all my Playlists are empty, no matter if I create a new one or add songs to the old ones. They're still empty after I uninstalled and reinstalled MMA, which is really weird. No missing songs when sync though.

Please fix it soon, I can't live without Playlists :-)

Update: still confusing. Here's what happened.
  • I made a new playlist in MMW and added two songs that I know are already on my device.
  • I synced. It worked. The tracks were in the playlist and even other apps could see the playlist correctly.
  • I synced again, just to be sure. Everything was still good.
  • In MMW, I added two more songs, one that was on the device and one that wasn't.
  • In MMA, I was on the playlists screen when I chose to sync.
  • Syncing succeeded. I saw the playlists update and there was the playlist with 4 tracks.
  • I selected the playlist, saw the 4 tracks for a brief second before the 4th track disappeared from the playlist before my eyes, the one that had not been on the device previously.
  • The track is on the phone, but not in the playlist. Attempting to sync again changes nothing. Still only 3 tracks in the playlist.

I'm new to MediaMonkey and am loving it so far, but I'm having the same problem.

I added 3 tracks to a playlist on MMW, 2 of which were already on my device. I synced and it said "2 files updated" and "1 file downloaded". Awesome! No duplicate copies! But then I went to Playlists and the playlist only has the one track that had to be copied over. Also, when I look at playlists in my Android Music or Winamp apps, I see a duplicate playlist of the same name and both appear empty from these apps. I think this has to do with my having first synced with just the 2 tracks and then syncing again after adding the 3rd.

I too am having a problem synchronizing a playlist from Windows to Android.

The Windows playlist gets created on Android, but it's populated with only two tracks. The original list has 29. I've checked that at least some of the missing tracks are present on my Android device. I'm going to try deleting it and then resync.

Seems that the issue is with the tablet somewhere?

So what kind of tablet is it.?

So that answers the PS about the m3u, but isn't the problem of not seeing the playlists in MMA a separate issue? There should be playlists visible in the app regardless of the .m3u issue.

Empty Playlist

Hi,

I'm using MMA and MMW to sync music between my tablet and PC. Previous versions of MMA didn't sync so well but now all songs are copied to device perfectly, the problem is with the playlists though. I depend heavily on playlists (for newly acquired music, mood, etc.) so this bug is bugging me big time!!! The playlists were synced okay the first couple of times, but then I changed the content of a playlist on my PC and synced (with a previous version) everything doesn't work anymore. Playlists are empty in MMA, syncing via wifi or USB doesn't copy the updated m3u playlists to the device. Now it's not even working with totally new playlists either.

I tried deleting playlists inside MMA, clearing app data and cache, uninstall MMA, reseting device profile on PC, deleting all music, playlists and the db cache of mm, even the whole meadiamonkey folder on SD card, nothing worked.

Please have a look at the matter and if it's possible, tell me all the places where MMA stores it's data so I can reset the app and hope that it works for the time being.

Best regards!

PS. Can't MMA opens m3u?
