This is disappointing since I have already bought the paid version of the Windows and Android versions. One work around is using the folder view as the ghost files don't display there.

I have the exact same problem. My device runs Android 4.4.2.

I deleted everything, reinstalled MMA, there were no tracks on the phone at that point. Then I synced.
The thing is, that at first everything seems fine. But then the duplicates without the album art (that in fact are only ghost files) start to appear one by one on the phone. I deleted everything again, and resynced. They always appear, no matter what I do.

I did it with USB and there were no interruptions. Whenever I disconnect after the syncing, the phantom files appear. Even when there is no connection to the library whatsoever. But they also appear when there is access to the library... The point is, they appear, and if I delete them, both files are gone... is it really that hard to fix that?

Any new ideas?

Sorry should have said go to internal memory folders and delete MMA.

You should have a 'file manager, task manager, explorer' on your mobile, use that to access your folders, go to sd card find the MMA folder and delete it. Have faith and a backup.

Thanks.
But what do you do to delete from internal memory?

Greetings MMChick, as I mentioned previously my previous phone ran 4.1.2 and did not have a problem with the update, which set me thinking the problem is not the Android iteration it is I think with the searching for albums within the Music folder, when such searching is interrupted unknowingly. Uninstalling MMA from the sd card and the internal directory should not affect your music folders or playlists as they are saved to 'disk' so to speak. Use 'Apps' in settings to uninstall MMA and a file commander to delete from the internal memory. Pip, Pip hooray.

Thanks for the posting.
But my device is only 4.3

So disappointed not to get a reply to this from the developer.

I could try a delete and reinstall, but I am not sure if all my playlists would disappear. They are not synced.

Greetings again, good news I just did a clean reinstall from Google play and MMA has worked, no ghosting, no other problems, it would seem to be important to let the installation search your folders without interruption indicated by the unnoticeable turning icon at the top of your screen, you may want to set your 'display' to 15 minutes to avoid a blank screen.

Greetings, I have the same problem on my Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, having recently acquired it I downloaded MMA (which I had on my previous phone) and transferred 63 albums from my laptop MMW using a USB link. The Sony Walkman had no problem incorporating the music files but the MMA had ghost files for 70% of the albums, I tried deleting from the laptop but on disconnecting the link all the files reappeared and in one case trebled I then went through Album, Artist/Album deleting the doubles which were actual files and played. I checked that the albums were playing went to bed, switched off the phone, turned it on the next day, prepared to go out in the afternoon brought up MMA and found that the ghost files has reappeared and the tracks are not playing. I turned to the Walkman and had no problem. My answer is to delete the Media Monkey for Android. I just went back to my old phone Sony Xperia S running android 4.1.2, updated to the present MMA and lo and behold, NO GHOST TRACKS, tracks are playing within album folders, the same albums which show tracks but no sound in my present phone. The problem seems to lie in Android 4.4.2. Should any one find an answer I will reinstall MMA.

So sorry, Lowlander. I have never seen replies from any developers and assumed that you were the one!

So I guess there is no reply from them.

Me, no, I don't have this problem. It's up to the developers to figure this out.

Have you managed to find a solution to the phantom tracks thing Lowlander?

Which build of MMA are you using?

Yes, agreed.
But what if I deleted them from MMA, which is what happened? I DID NOT delete from the file manager. I used file manager to confirm that the files were actually deleted. After the fact.
