Re: Motorola Q not recognized in MM

XP sees the device and it shows up twice in MY Computer. As Motorola MTP device and also as MTP device.
When I click to open the second one (MTP device) I get "You don't have permission to access the device"
On the first one I get nothing.
When I connect my Moto X to the PC, the motorola device manager opens up checks for updates and Outlook syncs.I also get a screen that gives me several options of what I could do. Including the option of syncing to Media Monkey. When i select it, nothing happens.
I have a debugging feature on the phone and without it none of the USB stuff works.
There was a time when I was able to sync via USB but then there was a major update for the Kitkat operating system and after that I think was when couldn't use the USB anymore for MM.
On the up side, I was able to use the wireless app for Media Monkey to get MP3 files onto the phone.
I just like the USB better ( when it works) because i'm more familiar with it.

Does Windows recognize it (is it in MTP mode?), did you check if it's disabled under Tools > Options > Portable Device Sync in MediaMonkey? Have you checked if wifi sync works as alternative?

If Windows recognizes it and MediaMonkey doesn't you can capture the connecting of the device in a debug log (step 4b) which you can send to support: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... ?f=12&t=69

OK, I did it, I upgraded to the very latest MM version . That one is supposed to work with most Android phones. My Moto X doesn't seem to be one of them.
MM still does not see my phone.

I'm kind of hesitant to update Media Monkey because i have really elaborate playlists and when I updated MM the lat time all of my playlists were gone and I had to start from scratch. Is there a way to protect the playlists or back them up somehow?
All playlists and track info is stored in the MM database file, which is not affected during upgrades. But it's always a good idea to back up the database file.

The WMP installation also contains MTP drivers that are necessary to communicate with such devices.

Your version of MM is out of date, upgrade to the lastest version which is 4.1 from the MM downloads page.

I have the same problem with my moto X. MM tells me that device is not installed. My question is, what does the media player have to do with Media Monkey?

MM does not see my Moto X anymore

Hi,
I have a Moto X Android phone and I used to be able to sync it to media monkey with a USB cable. I had to turn on the debugging mode and then it would show up as a drive. I'm not sure when MM stopped recognizing the Moto X but I think it might have something to do with the latest software update, but I'm not sure.
At this point the MM program does not see the phone anymore . MM tells me "No device connected. The Moto X does show up in My Computer and when I plug it in I get the option to sync with MM or media player or do nothing but that's all.
I have syncing software for outlook contacts and calendar and that works. I tried different ports and restarts etc. Nothing... I have version 4.0.7.1541
Can i get some help please?

I think you need WMP10 or later to sync to MTP devices.

I know there's a WMP on the PC, but it may be around WMP9. Should it be a later version for the MotoQ to show up in MM?
