'The' (show artist as the beatles, beatles, the or beatles as user wishes)

What about the "sort as" field in ID3? (Can't remember its correct name, but it's there...) Could you not simply honour that one if it exists? In that case, I could call them The Beatles in the list, but sort them like Beatles, The (if I want to).

This is spoken about before, yeah. Even The The were mentioned. What will be implemented has to been seen. But the opinions differed quit a bit. Hopefully something that can be customized to each users preference will be worked out.

This is something that Windows Media Player does.
If the artist name begins with "The" it uses the second word for alphabetical sorts.

Thus "The Band" would be listed under B but still display as "The Band". I currently have around 60 artists starting with "The" and listed under T.

I know you can change the name to, e.g. "Band, The", but it's not quite as elegant.


Hmmm... That's got me thinking. I wonder what media player will do with the band name "The The".......
