- I've been using Media Monkey with WASAPI output to play FLAC from Media Monkey Windows 10 through an optical connexion to my Naim Qute for some time.
- Windows 10 will also stream FLAC (cast to...) the Naim directly.
- I can use the NAIM Android APP to play from the Media Monkey uPNP server or Asset uPNP to the Naim.
That's all good.
Now, I'm using Media Monkey on my Android phone as a local media player for FLAC typically stored on the phone. I'd like to play that directly to the Naim uPnP Renderer, and sure enough MM Android can see the renderer (it's in the menu...) and I can select it for output. The problem is that there's no sound or other sign that the track is playing.
When I do this, something is sent to the Naim because whatever I already had playing there (from another uPnP control point) stops. So I know the machines are talking. Note that the other control point is not causing this problem: I cannot play from MM Android irrespective of if there's another control point around.
There aren't any settings I can find in the MM UI to tweak the uPnP or to see what's happening. I had a look here and can't see anything which looks precisely like this problem or a solution, but the Naim is a supported device and it should work, it works with pretty much all modern uPnP control points without hassle. I only have FLAC so can't easily try other stuff, but I know the renderer plays it, so that's not likely to be the issue assuming MM does not attempt to transcode it, and if it did, the Naim supports pretty much anything you can throw at it.
Does anyone please have any ideas or suggestions on what I can try? I'm sure MM Android will do this, hence I must be missing something.
