1. The fact that a value exists is good. It means that the metadata has synced correctly.
2. If MMA is playing, and you're in the Android menu screen swipe from the top down to see the 'Notification drawer'. In the notification drawer there will be an entry for MediaMonkey; press the 'stop' button (the square). Note that this is only required if MediaMonkey is running.
3. Try stopping playback and then re-initiating playback and see if the problem is resolved. Note that you'll have better luck testing tracks that have negative volume leveling values (see: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=11957 ). If the problem persists, please generate a log and post the log ID here, indicating the file / volume leveling value that's problematic.

Thanks.

Dang, missed the second page of the thread....

1. I do see a value for "Leveling:" that is different than zero. They range from -6 dB to about 6 dB.

2. How do I " STOP playback (via notifications Window)"? I don't know which screen that is...

3. Sony D6616 (T-Mobile Z3) running Android 5.0.2, MMA 1.3.0.0694, MMW 4.1.15.1830, Windows 10 home.

Hi,

I quickly verified Volume Leveling with the current build (1.3.0.694/5) and it's working correctly for me.
Can you confirm that when you view the track's properties in _MMA_ that the volume leveling indicator is shown? If you don't see a value then it means that the track was copied rather than synced via MMW which would explain why that metadata is missing.
If yes, can you also make sure to STOP playback (via notifications Window) and then re-initiate playback in order to ensure that the modified playback settings (enabled Volume Leveling) are used?

If volume leveling still fails after the above, please let us know:
- your device, OS version, and MediaMonkey version

Thanks.

I've always found Android soft compared to Apple. One way around this is to level files on sync. Any value up to 95dB will generally work without problems. Leveling doesn't work for all file types though.

I also have a Sony D6616 (T-Mobile Z3) running Android 5.0.2, MMA 1.3.0.0694, MMW 4.1.15.1830 and the track leveling doesn't work on the MMA version. Songs show a "leveling" from -6 dB to + 6 dB (listed in the properties of the file). When I click off/on the "Level volume" option, the volume of the songs don't change (and I am pretty sure I can hear a -6 dB or + 6dB volume change. Now it DOES seem to work on the MMW version (I can hear the change and I turn the leveling on/off).
Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong on the MMA version?

Also, the overall volume of the music is quite low. I have to turn it almost all the way up. When I do, & run Google Navigation, the Nav voice is LOUD. I'd like my music to compete with the Google Nav voice.

@Lowlander

To move my topics still at the end of older (not solved) topics does not make the matter solved.

AGAIN, AGAIN AND AGAIN: NO LEVEL VOLUME!!! PLEASE SOLVE!

by frs1966 » Tue Dec 01, 2015 9:09 am

Hi,

over 1 year ago I bought MMW gold and MMA pro. I also used most betas.
I really enjoy using MM. Lovely Program. In generell.

But since I started, volume levelling is not working. MMW AND MMA! Official and ALL used betas!
Now I moved to a new smartphone, complete new installation and sync. Same problem.

What is the problem? Why don't you solve this problem? I am not the only one with this matter.

WIFI Sync works (except some smaller points I mentioned in another topic), in both directions, for all informations, also the star rating.

Can you imagine how annoying that is, especially hearing music with headphones?
The volume difference is upto 3 steps at the volume control!

Level Volume is enabled at MMA/MMW. I run volume analysis at MMW several times.

All my m4a Songs (all from iTunes) have same volume. So that is ok. But all mp3 songs are different, most are much lower than m4a, a few are louder than m4a.

Why does it work with m4a, but not with more common mp3?

I sent several debug logs to Ventis, no reply at all.

Shall I create playlists depending on the file format instead of music taste?

I really would be happy if this problem will get a higher priority.

Thank you.

Specs: Windows 10, MMW 4.1.10.1769, Sony Xperia Z5, Android 5.1.1, MMA 1.1.3.0502

I deletes MMA and pro from my device, deleted all media and installes/synced again. This tooks 2 days because of my huge collection.
Now it works.

"Volume Levelling" still inoperable in MMA/MMW

by frs1966 » Tue Jul 07, 2015 10:54 am

Since my first steps with MMA/MMW, the Volume Levelling does not work.
I posted this several times.

Does not matter if I use official or beta versions (most time I use beta's) of MMA/MMW
All my AAC Songs (all from iTunes) are louder than the mp3-Songs. And the Songs in mp3 are still different.
I several times runs "Volume Analysis".

iTunes uses 89db, so I do in MMW.

That's is the most annoying error in MM, becauseI most time I listen with headphones.

PLEASE REPAIR THIS BUG.

I use MMA Pro and MMW German Gold, newest betas

Hi Frank,

I was asking whether ratings changes are syncing PC <--> Device properly, because if they aren't then it's indicative that a sync problem is preventing certain metadata from syncing, and would imply that Volume Leveling metadata also isn't syncing. Since it's working, it means that the volume leveling metadata is also syncing.

A 'clean install of MediaMonkey for Android' means a brand new installation that first removes all previous versions of the software, tracks, settings, and the database. It's a last resort if there are unexplained problems with the database / synchronization, but isn't warranted in your case.

As far as why this is occurring, I'm not sure--it's working on all of our devices (but we don't have an Xperia Z3 in house for testing). Are you certain that it isn't working at all? The best way to test is to create a playlist with 2 Tracks +10db and 2 tracks -10db. Then play it with Volume Leveling enabled and play it once disabled. Note that there is currently a limitation that for very low volume tracks, the volume can only be raised slightly (see details of this issue at http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=11957 ).

Please confirm whether you're observing the problem only with very low volume tracks OR if occurs with the +10db tracks as well. Thanks!

Hi Rusty,

song rating WIFI sync works well, in both directions.
Sometimes "sync failed" at first time, so I repeat. And new added songs in MMW never synct to MMA at first sync, but at second try its ok.
But in generell sync works.

I habe this Volume Leveling Problem since several earlier versions.
Problem still persists with MMW 4.1.6.1733 and MMA 1.1.1.0411

By the way, what means "clean install"?

Frank,

I suspect that the problem is that files were copied/synced to a directory to which MMA doesn't have write access. To confirm, can you tell me whether ratings appear correctly in MMA? Do they update when you change them in MMW and then re-sync via Wi-Fi ?

If so, the problem is the same as that reported at: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... 26&t=78750

Please confirm.

If that's the problem, can you update to MMW 4.1.6.1376 and MMA 1.1.0.402 (clean install) and let me know if the problem persists?

Thanks.

I'm also unable to replicate Moto G 4G 4.4.4 using 1733/399 all ok on my side. I wonder if sony again put some of their enhancements to ...... things up. I remember that there was something on Sony tipo where you needed to disable it.

Re: Volume Leveling does not work

Hi Rusty,

-MMW 4.1.6.1726
-MMA 1.0.7.0313
-Sony Z3 compact / android 4.4.4
-yes, the sync works properly. Also the song rating, in both directions.

Sometimes after a sync, most playlists in MMA show and contain only 500 songs, so I sync again and most pklaylists show correct song quantity.

I already used the MMA beta, but after EACH sync, at first everything is fine. But after some minutes, ALL playlist are deleted automatically. I don't understand this problem.

Volume leveling does not work at MMW, MMW beta, MMA pro, MMA beta.
Volume analysis of complete music collection.

Hi Frank,

I tested this out with MMA Beta 1.1.0.396 (on a Nexus 5 / Android 4.4.2) against several M4A files (encoded with AAC) and volume leveling worked correctly.

Can you confirm:
- What version of MMA ?
- What device / version of Android ?
- Are ratings from MMW synced to the device?

Thanks.
