I've noticed that dragging to select does not seem to work in MMW5. In Windows Explorer and pretty much any other program with a listview that allows multiple selection, I can drag a rubber band to select multiple contiguous items. In MMW5, the rubber band appears, but nothing gets selected. It's not really a show-stopper as I can just click on the first item and shift-click on the last item, but it is an inconvenience.
I am on 2527 also.
I don't see what you are showing.
In the illustration you start your drag outside the main panel, and you finish outside the main panel also.
What happens when you start and stop within the panel?
In my case I am OK if I start the drag inside the main panel. Finishing outside is OK.
That said I don't find mouse selection too robust in MM5.
And I would never ever drag and drop in MM5 (again). It is too flaky, and can make a muddle in the blink of an eye.
To do what you are doing, in that illustration, I would select via Ctrl+A.
To select whole albums I would be in List By Album view, and select the album(s) by clicking or Ctrl+Click on the Artwork cell(s).
I would then right click and Cut and then right click and paste to the target.
