This has been happening for a while, but it appeared to be only an occasional track, but it seems to be accelerating, and I think it's happening from MMA, not MMW5:
I have searched for and manually replaced many album arts with higher resolution images of 600x600 or higher, sometimes up to the maximum supported of 1500x1500 via MMW and synced it, so far so good. In MMA, I have it set to NOT search for album art. Yet every so often, when I glance at my phone there will be an activity notification from MMA, even when it's not otherwise even loaded, of "updating album art".
And my nice high quality album art images on various tracks/albums have been replaced by low quality/low res versions of 300x300 or less.
Currently installed version of MMA is 1.4.5.0960, on a Samsung Galaxy s20+ currently on OS12/OneUI4, but this pre-existed with OS11/OneUI3.5.
At least this time, it's not a wholesale replacement with another album's art.
