Log submitted

Ticket #5217: "Failure of right-click menu to stay open"

Re: Right click select fails

by Lowlander » Sun Dec 18, 2022 1:39 pm

You can leave DebugView running for extended periods (I sometimes have it running for many days), just make sure you save the log as soon as the problem is reproduced, so the developers know to find it at the end of the log.

There is no crash involved here.

All that happens is that the right-click menu flashes onto the screen and disappears before a selection can be made. After a few re-tries in different spots, it sticks open.

This happens intermittently and totally unpredictable - some sessions it becomes frequent.

Don't you just hate those!!!

Just in case it helps, you need to do other stuff with MM for a while before it will misbehave.

Play a few, tag a few, switch views, load playlists, etc and after an hour or so then try it. :(
We actually need last minute before crash and steps preceding along with Debug log as Lowlander said should be more than enough.

Mine's been running for over a day and has done many different actions in that period. Still no dice on reproducing.

Hi,
Same here I can't replicate, maybe a accompany video would also help.

I'm unable to reproduce this. The Context Menu always works as expected. So, yes, a debug log (step 4b) would be very helpful to resolve this.

I agree, this annoying feature has been presenting itself again more frequently in recent times.

It occurs mostly in list by album view, maybe because that is what I use most, and can occur whether I have one track or multiple tracks selected. Trying the right-click along different locations within the selection block sometimes makes it stay up.

I have also had it occur when selecting a playlist, and wanting to go right-click, edit, I have to try several times til the menu sticks.

I suppose I should also reload the debug version and see if it happens there. Such a pain.

This problem still exists in MMW 5.0.4.2690. Someday when I have a couple hours of library maintenance to do in MM5, I'll have to just let debug run along aside and send the log when this occurs.

Agreed - seems better in 2660 so far.

I experienced it (again) a lot in 2659 also, but it seems to be gone in 2660.

This feature is presenting itself again today in version 2659.

Right click on selected track or tracks, and the menu flashes up and disappears. Repeats severla times no matter where I righ-click.

Eventually after un-selecting and re-selecting and it works fine again.

This was occurring in list by album view displaying the results of a search.

Just to confirm as per first post above, this does occur for me sometimes, or frequently, depending on the mood of the day.

I frequently use the all tracks node, filtered or searched, to edit tags, etc

Select two or three adjacent tracks, right-click, and the menu flashes on screen and disappears. After a few more tries it usually sticks open.

This was better a few versions ago, but this latest 2627 is doing it again this morning.

(ps Late discovery due to inactivity on my part - I haven't used it much at all since it came out, due to other summertime activities.)

My setup is a basic HP Envy laptop with windows 10 fully updated and an SSD installed.

Four log files have been submitted under ticket 4359.

Two are for the the multiple right click before stable menu problem.

Two are for the improper shutdown leading to subsequent crashes. This is a similar issue to the one reported on ticket 4169, which was resolved. It has returned in MM 2627 only now I see in Task Manager that MM5 is leaving five processes behind instead of four.

BTW, I have used MM5 since day one (upgrade from MM4) with the same video card and dual monitors. The monitors are Benq GL2480-T. The video card is an Nvidia 9600GT, the computer is a custom Gigabyte i9 with dual 2 TB nVME drives.
