Well, I don't have a perfect solution .. but I'm using the iOS app [url=https://apps.apple.com/us/app/evermusic-offline-player/id885367198]Evermusic[/url], which gives me some features.

I sync MM5 with my iPhone (so far, so good). That music (+playlists, etc) shows up in Evermusic in my iPod library. So now I can play, shuffle, etc. Of course, it is a one-way synch whereby MM5 will not have any idea what is played in my iPhone nor can I make any changes on my iPhone that will percolate back up to MM5.

Unfortunately no suggestions, at a short time few years back when I had iPhone for testing. During testing time installing any app will have issue of not being able to access files written by other apps like synced from MM5. That is +1 reason why avoid Apple products in general.

Can someone please recommend a good media player for an iPhone that can be easily sync'd with MMW5? [i](Apple's included music player is somewhat brain dead)[/i] :o
