Hi,
I can't reproduce track one in any version of MM4/5, but there is something seriously wrong with WMA encoding in both MM4 and MM5.

I added it as highest priority under https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=20106

Thank you for reporting.

SUGGESTION: As issue covers both MM4 and MM5 I would suggest not encoding WMA in MM till we find out what exactly is causing the issue because last MM4 was released 2 years ago and there was 4 stable versions of MM5 where no one reported such issue. That means something deeper is the cause.

NOTE: It appears that decoding of existing files is not affected, so you should be able to play WMA files normally.

Can you ripped a previous Ripped WMA that works again? If so please provide both working and non-working WMA copies to Support: https://www.mediamonkey.com/support/

My android phone can play .wma tracks using a free music player....

If this is your issue, send me one of the tracks which won't play, I can test it. PM me for email address.

Hi,
WMA format has not been changed for years and we can use only codecs that are supplied with windows or we and our users would need to pay MS license fees for support of WMA in MediaMonkey.

NOTE: Android devices do not play WMA tracks as Google removed WMA/WMV support as of Android 3.0

So the format for WMA may have changed with MM5. I have always used WMA and not had this issue. I have about 5k songs.

I created an mp3 from cd and it plays on the Denon. so I copied the whole cd. This result was interesting the file sizes for the mp3 were slightly different. I copied the whole cd to mp3 and it works.

So the Dan Fogelberg is the new file? It seems to Variable Bitrate, maybe that's not supported?

Did not try it....yet. Link to pic of properties of the old and new files notice that the new does not show verity as publisher and did not pick the writers.

MediaMonkey does not apply DRM, WMP used to do this for WMA. Does MP3 still work?

Yes, my other music is WMA. Just double-checked. Also if I load the usb with the new music on it on my computer, not only mm can play it but win media player can. I have swapped old/new music to same drive to make sure it is not a hdw issue. It almost seems like a digital rights issue? This is a new win11 machine. But I was also seeing the issue before. My win10 machine was acting flaky and died and I attributed the prob to that....

Are you sure those devices support WMA?
