Hi,
Dan Pappathopoulos schreef: zo jun 30, 2024 6:57 pm I guess the question now becomes what does that field do since I seem to be mis-understanding it?
That field is used for Metadata only and to unify MM behavior what character is used to split Multi Genre, Artist, ... fields. This is done because different formats uses different splitting character in Metadata to tell apps what is splitting character as unfortunately not all apps uses same :( It is explained in details on settings tooltip.

No I'm not using a comma. Isn't it calling for a semi-colon? I thought that is what the "Split multiple-value fields with:" was calling for. I guess the question now becomes what does that field do since I seem to be mis-understanding it?

Meanwhile switching to a comma did do the trick. Both on my desktop and syncing to my ipod Classic. Thank you.

You're not using the , for separating multiple values, that may be the problem.

Lowlander> I found the Tools>Options>Library>Fields you are referring to.
I set it up as follows but nothing has actually changed.

It's been available in MediaMonkey 5 for a while now. Under Tools > Options > Fields you can set which fields ignore Prefix is applied to.

I see nothing has been added to this thread in quite some time. Has there been any movement? I'm a new MediaMonkey user and I too want to be able to ignore prefixes like A, An, The across the board. (Song, Album, etc.) as well as Artist or Album Artist.
Consider this a part of my wishlist.

Any idea if a patch will be released that will include the same function for titles?
There's no movement on this issue (first reported 8 years ago! :-? ): http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=4564

Other players like Musicbee (mediamonkey-style configuration) and foobar2k (manual configuration) ignores user-set prefixes in other fields including <Artist>. I consider it essential when navigating <album>-sorted genres like soundtracks.

Yes, ignoring prefixes is only for Artist/Album Artist.

I believe that is only for Artists and the original question was about titles. In response to that question, I don't think there is any way to get MM to ignore these words in titles.

Sort Title and exclude words (The, A)

Love media monkey been using it for over a year now for all my music movies and anime.

I'm just curious if there is some way to disable certain words that are automatically sorted such as "the" "an" "a" as they often times are the first word in a movie title or song.

Thanks.
