I would try to use this mark "\<Playlist>\<Auto Number:4>_<Title>-<Artist>" before contacting them.

EDIT: As for no sound check format and try to set MM to reconvert them before sync.

I'd recommend contacting the device manufacturer to learn more on the limitations of the device. It may be Path and/or filename length that is an issue.

Thanks, Im slowly discovering how to use this.
I have got to creating this \<Playlist>\<Album Artist>\<Album>\<Auto Number> <Artist> - <Title> and have synced to the USB in the format that its is recommended by "Grom' to apply playlists. IE

1-A The UK No1 Singles Collection 1980 to Today (1 Artists ie Various Artists, 1 album ie The UK No1 Singles Collection, 950 Titles)
2-M #1 Albums 80-89 - bad removed (129 Artists)
3-M #1 Albums 90-99 - bad removed (139 Artists)
4-A Now That's What I Call Music (1 Artists ie Various Artists, 47 album ie Now That's What I Call Music 1/2/3/4/5 etc, 950 Titles)
5-A Best of 1980 - today 2000 (2 albums)
6-Test (2 albums)

Problem is, plugging the USB drive into the Grom device and tying to play it....1) it isn't playing anything out of the speakers in playlist 1 lol 2) selecting playlist 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 switches off the Grom lol

You can control how files are stored on Sync using Masks. This includes the <Playlist> Mask to create Playlist folders.

Setting up sync to a USB drive?

by pip_pill » Sat Sep 07, 2024 11:46 pm

I have several GROM-USB3 MP3 car stereo adapter kits https://gromaudio.com/store/usb_adapters/ others are connected via USB to ipod classics, but due to a firmware coding error in the Grom, for playing random (RDM) tracks using an ipod within a playlist, specifically in a Mazda, I am having to use a USB thumb drive.

I have only experience of syncing ipods classics with Mediamonkey 5 and playing via Grom (which works great in the other Grom installs).

The music format in the USB thumb drive needs to be like this
https://gromaudio.com/docs/Grom_USB_Setup.pdf
this is an extract of the instructions to set up the drive
https://photos.google.com/u/1/photo/AF1 ... qyUQL_bFfr
IE the drive D:, has route folders that are playlists, have sub folders that are albums and songs in the album folders! (the system emulates as if the playlists are CD's in a CD changer, generally up to 6 CD's)

This is not how mediamonkey 5 formats a drive to synchronize music to it when using an ipod.

Is there anyway that Mediamonkey by syncing with the USB thumb drive, can create this folder structure? ie D: route= playlist/album/tracks
Maybe this is simple, but I have little experience of syncing to USB thumb drives.
