Hi, thanks for your Log. Based on your log I was able to replicate the issue too.
The fix will be included in the next build.

Can you confirm whether the issue occurs when you synced content to the SD card? OR is it only when you manually copied content to an SD card, inserted it into the device and MMA started scanning endlessly?

We've just released version 2.0.4.1230 to the Beta channel on Google Play. Can I ask you to try it out and generate a debug log when this occurs?

Tap Options > About > Register for test builds. Once registered, go to MediaMonkey in the Play store and tap 'Update' to install build 2.0.4.30. Then run MMA, replicate the bug, and submit a debug log (in the menu, tap Help > Send logs) and share the log ID here. That should help us understand the issue.

Thanks!

Ver. 1230 freezes in the middle of scanning metadata from the SD card.
Log ID: VXS9RRQR7B

Thanks.

1) If you open MMA, it will check for new changes.
If there are no changes, it should only take a few seconds.
2) During the scan, you can click on the progress circle and expand the information panel to see what is being scanned.
3) If you sync in a card reader and then insert it back into the device, it is important that MMA has access to the MediaMonkey folder on the SD card. This will give it access to the database containing metadata about the copied media.
Otherwise, MMA scans the media from the system and some metadata (e.g. rating) may be missing. Moreover, such media must be paired during the subsequent Wifi sync.
5) If you feel that MMA is scanning for a long time and the expanded information panel does not explain the situation, you can send the log for analysis.
Options/Help/Send logs and write down Log ID
6) Wifi sync is the best option to sync media with MMW.

Rusty,

I tried to follow the Wiki guidance:

1. I inserted a blank formatted SD card into my Sony Walkman.
2. I connected it to my desktop via a USB cable.
3. I opened MMW and created a sync profile on the SD card.
4. I removed the SD card from the player and inserted it into a card reader.
5. I plugged in the card reader to my desktop and ran a sync to download all the files onto the card.
6. I removed the card and placed it into the player and the MMA app immediately starts the long process of reading the files, folders and downloads them into its library.
7. After the process is completed, I attempted to open the app again and a new process starts again.
8. Once I finally get to syncing, that process is another mess of downloading and deleting files.

I am also having similar problems with version 1226.

It keeps scanning files and folders from my SD card into the library even though the task was already completed and nothing has changed. It does this whenever I open the app on my Sony Walkman Android player.

It also adds and deletes files from the server and library at the same time. It's the same files going back and forth!
It even changes some of the file names on my SD card by adding an *_1.m4a to the titles. It should NOT be altering my file names.

The app also uploads a playlist from the SD card (Recently Added Songs) that I never created or asked for. I did used to have that playlist on MMW, but I deleted it, so it should not request it from MMA. I am going to start with a clean database file for both programs and see if that resolves the issue.

This version is clearly broken. I've never had issues with MMA in the three years I have been using it until now.
I am going back to version 1222.

Hi

Ver 2.0.3.1226 Monkey Pro

Brand new Samsung S9 FE Plus tab, with 1TB Samsung pro micro SD card and 490g of Flac files.

Been scanning for 3 days now! no end in sight, duplicate records , albums empty.
Have the same collection as external drive on my PC and Media Monkey has no issues at all.

Is this going to be fixed?
I want too use Media Monkey with my offline music collection but I'm going to have to give up soon.

Hi,
What is the speed of SDCard, What is the model of your phone and OS, What is the max bandwidth of SDCard slot and number of files MMA scans.

This is happening to me now after upgrading my SD card to 512gb. It's been scanning for a week now.

What can I do?

OK, so moving to a previous release didn't help much, I have the same issue. Scanning hasn't stopped since the message I posted 2 days ago.

Hi, any updates on this one? I´ve 1.4.3.0950 installed again, i´ve upgraded the 512 Go microSD to a 1To, loaded with approx 510 Go of audio files (about 22,000 -mix of flac and mp3) and 20 playlists (i am running my sync on playlists). I have not seen any changes on the issue tracker.
Last screening, still ongoing, has been started 48 hours ago and is draining my battery. i have managed to keep the phone constantly charged so that the process didn´t get interruped.

Any feedback: much appreciated. Thanks!

Exact same issue here with a Samsumg S10+. Smaller micro SD though (512 GB), but same never ending scanning with Media Monkey Android app until battery drains and phone dies 🙄
Has any solution been found since original post? Thanks

EDIT: moved back to MMA 1.4 0.0934 and issue is now gone

Continuous scanning [#18866]

Hi. I'm operating MMA 1.4.3 on a Samsung Galaxy S20+ with a 1TB Micro SD card and a large collection of music (over 50,000 tracks). Wifi sync with MMW works beautifully, although connecting sometimes takes awhile. The issue is that following a sync, MMA continues to scan....and scan....and scan. I can force stop the app to stop the scanning, but as soon as I open it the scanning resumes. If I don't force stop it this can go on for days. It's a huge battery eater, meaning that I often revert to using another music player that can read my synced files and playlists so that I'm not wearing down my battery while listening to music. I have looked at settings in an effort to find a way to stop the scanning while still using app to play music but I can't find a way. Can anyone help? Thanks.
