Just to say that this has been an issue for me for the last month or so. Looking forward to the fix that by coincidence you have announced. Thanks for addressing this, since it has become really annoying when I am listening to music while working out.

UPDATE:
A full fix is in 2.0.4.1229 which was submitted to the Play Store as a Beta earlier today (approval normally takes 1-2 days). To test out the beta tap Options > About | Register for test builds. Or wait a few more days for the official release.

In the meantime, the workaround is to disable Options > Playback > Audio transitions > Gapless.

EDIT: replaced by 2.0.4.1230

Update: build 1230 has been approved by Google and is now available to all Beta testers. We expect it to become available to all other users in a couple of days.

fyi, this is partially fixed (we're still working on another case it which it can occur) in beta build 2.0.4.1227.

To test out the beta build:
- in MMA, tap Options > About | Register for test builds.
Once registered, your next update will be to the current MMA beta. To update immediately, go to MediaMonkey in the Play store and tap 'Update'.

We expect it to be fully fixed in a subsequent build this week.

Things should improve in in next builds, but additional sample files are more than welcome.

Open Helpdesk Support Ticket and Supply us with Download links to files that observe such behavior.

Hi rusty,

That does indeed match my experience. Some files will consistently do this and some will consistently not.

I'm happy to share files with you but not sure how best to do that.

Thank you!

We believe that this issue is specific to certain files. i.e. if it occurs, it'll occur consistently with a given pair of files and if it doesn't occur with a pair of files, it'll consistently not occur.

Does that match your experience?

If so, would you be able to share the first and second file with which the bug consistently occurs?

I'll chime in to add that this problem exists with the most current version of GrapheneOS (Build 2025020500; Android 15) as well. I'm running MediaMonkey Pro Android v2.0.3.1226 installed on a brand new Pixel 9 Pro. Music was freshly synced over wifi from a Windows 10 install of MediaMonkey Pro v4.1.31.1919. This problem exists on a new Pixel 9 [non-pro] as well with the above-mentioned software setup.

Specifically, all track transitions while "gapless" is enabled result in silence once the next track begins. trptmd's solution to restore audio works as described. Setting transitions to "None" or "Crossfade" prevent the issue; each in their own way.

P.S. I didn't have this problem with my previous phone running LineageOS 20 however I believe that release is based on Android 13.

-Cheers

I've noticed this as well. It started with the most recent update: 2.0.3.1224
It looks like the fault might have come about due to an issue myself and others were having once on Android 15 on Pixel devices.

Turning Gapless off has fixed the issue for the time being.

Silent playback on some files with gapless transition enabled [#21501]

by trptmd » Thu Dec 26, 2024 11:25 am

Hello All,

This is possibly a duplicate of a previous bug # 0019639. Apologies if I needed to put this under an existing thread.

I found an odd bug yesterday after syncing some new music to my phone. Running Pixel 9 pro, Android 15, MMA beta 2.0.3.1224.

Log ID: XA9SJFY7FW
Captured after song transition when it was playing silently.

When playing music with "gapless" turned on, SOME music (not all) will be silent when transitioning to the next song. The sound comes back with play/pause, next/previous, or using seek function. I first noticed this behavior yesterday and it did not happen prior to yesterday at all.

It happens this way consistently with some music files and not at all with other music. It is not clear to me if there is anything about the file that causes this.

It's possible this started with most recent MMA update but I can't say for sure. Might also have something to do with adding new music.

This does not happen with transitions turned to "off".

Please let me know if I need to clarify anything further and thank you!!
