Please attach your database file to a Support Ticket for developer analysis. In your ticket please include some Album names that have this issue.

Okay, so I checked the files individually and all of them said weirdly said "Rating: Unknown" even though the albums showed a 0 stars rating... However, I found that manually changing ONE of the songs to an arbitrary rating (like 5 stars), then navigating to the next track, then navigating to the previous track again and right-clicking the stars to "Remove Rating" seems to have fixed the issue.

I did this on the first track on every album (5 star rated the first track, clicking next, clicking previous, then removing the rating) and now the albums do not reset their rating on restart. So, the issue is fixed. Hopefully if anyone else runs into this issue they can refer to this thread.

And for posterity's sake, I was on the "Albums" page under the "Music" node and I was on the current version of MediaMonkey (2024.1.0.3113)

Album Rating is a calculated Rating based on the Track Rating average. Do any files on the Album have a Rating?

Unfortunately the screenshot lacks context of where you are in MediaMonkey. Also, which Build (Help > About) of MediaMonkey are you using?

Albums keep rating themselves after selecting "Unknown" rating

So basically, I've never really cared to rate my music in any media player, I find it to be a bit tedious and usually makes the interface look messier. As far as I know, there's no way to completely remove the 5 star icons under each album in MediaMonkey but setting the album's rating as "Unknown" is the next best thing as it makes the stars nearly invisible.

However, I've noticed that a few of my albums that I've added in the last month have their rating set as the "0 Stars" rating (The difference being the stars are slightly more opaque, enough that it's noticeable)

Image here (the top 6 albums have the issue, the bottom 6 do not, showing both sets to provide contrast):

Now the problem I'm running into is that I will right click and set all of their ratings to "Unknown" and it will achieve the desired effect, but when I close MediaMonkey and re-open it they reset themselves back to "0 Stars".

Is this a glitch within the player itself or with the files, perhaps? I usually use mp3tag to tag my files, but there doesn't seem to be a way to add or check a rating tag to the files in the program. Also, right clicking the mp3s in windows shows them as having 0 stars, the same as other files that don't have this issue.

Any ideas?
