Which Build (Help > About) of MediaMonkey 2024 are you using and what do you mean with ignores tags?

I've noticed this as well in MMW (2024). Playback volume resets (or tags are ignored) on the next song until I move the volume slider. Then tag seems to recognized and playback then is as expected. Third song comes on, same issue, I must move volume slider.

Hi,
If you find any two tracks that fail in MMA, but work in MMW (maybe even if do not work in MMW too), please open Support Ticket and send us DL link to all 4 files (MMA converted ones and Originals in MMW), also beside those 4 tracks please include MM5.DB file as then we can compare all volume level indexes.

I've been messing around for an hour, turning the leveling option off and on, uploading leveled track/tagged files to my phone and it seems to work flawlessly.

I'll open a ticket if I'm able to reliably recreate it.
Alright I'm not hallucinating.
I replaced my brick with a phone, I have a new car, a new bluetooth speaker, and I've freshly analyzed the volume for the entire library. I've even disabled album leveling, yet I'm still experiencing issues.

Volume leveling works when I use:

* MMW
* Phone speakers
* Omnia, bluetooth or phone speakers

Leveling is all over the place when I use:
* MMA over bluetooth JBL charge 5
* MMA over bluetooth new car (released 2021)

What's weird is there doesn't seem to be a particular logic to the volume. I had a song with metadata of -13db play audibly softer. Another song with -8db audibly louder. songs with +0.5db somewhere in the middle.

What do you mean with cross-platform?

Which Build (Help > About) of MediaMonkey are you using and are you using MediaMonkey WASAPI output set to exclusive mode?

Level volume on MMA does not level volume

by shagmasterk » Sun May 25, 2025 12:26 pm

I tried posting about this on a previous similar thread but got no response, so sorry for the duplication. I have been using MMA Pro for years, Version is 2.0.5.1248 (I have MMW gold license as well if that matters)

- I have the volume analyzed on all of my tracks on MMW, most of which are FLAC files that I have ripped
- When I play tracks on MMW, even when shuffling through entire library, volume leveling works flawlessly
- Tracks are converted to mp3 when syncing to MMA on phone (Motorola one 5G ace)
- I have Leveling volume checked on MMA, but volume varies from track to track when listening through wired or bluetooth headphones or other bluetooth devices, or casting to Chromecast
- Track properties on MMA include volume information

I'm hoping there is something simple that I'm missing, but I've been missing it for a long time. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thank you!

Hello, I have also been baffled for years with my own MMA volume leveling issue. I have read most of this thread. There is a lot of stuff about compression, which I have used when mastering songs for bands so I understand it well. I do not believe compression is relevant to the ability of MMW or MMA to level track volume.

- I have the volume analyzed on all of my tracks on MMW, most of which are FLAC files with no volume leveling
- When I shuffle tracks on MMW, volume leveling works flawlessly
- Tracks are converted to mp3 when syncing to MMA on Motorola phone
- I have tried simply turning on volume leveling on MMA, and volume varies from track to track when listening through headphones or streaming via bluetooth in my car or to home stereo
- I have tried deleting my entire 20K track library from MMA, turning on the option to "level volume when syncing audio" in MMW, and re-synced the library, which did not fix the problem

I'm hoping there is something simple that I'm missing, but I've been missing it for a long time. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thank you!

I am relived to hear that, if it was proven correct it would be a bug for immediate fix. Glad that I'm not the only one not being able to replicate again.

Hi,
Can you please open support ticket and supply us DL link to those two files for us to analyze.

There is a difference between tracks in general. Not just when using headphones. Messing around with the settings certainly had some impact, but if two outliers get played consecutively the gap in volume can still be large enough to give me a jump scare.

I've attached details tab screenshots of two outliers. There is no discernable difference in volume between these tracks when played with MM5.
Also do track properties (Details tab) really contain Volume info in MM5 Server? I tested on 4 of my headphones and speakers and Volume leveling worked.

While using MMA for just synchronizing the files from PC to the smartphone, Omnia is now my default player on Android Auto.
Thanks Guys.

This issue has been annoying me for years. I enabled literally every volume leveling option. Delete all files and resync several times, but to no avail.

In contrast, Omnia simply works.

Yes, OMNIA is a working alternative WITH volume output controls.
Very easy to set up: define the music files-folder and the playlist-folder.
Connect mobile phone to BOSE system via bluetooth.
