Lowlander:

Future functionality requests:
  • Add the ability to export a subset of your playlists (normal playlists and auto playlists) using "export playlists with keyword"?
  • Also, can "export this playlist" be added when you right-click on a single regular or autoplaylist?

I thought I removed it, but did some more testing from scratch to start from a "known state".

When I had just the .mmap an auto playlist was NOT created on the scan. Is there are technical reason that you are needing both the .m3u and .mmap?

When I had both the .m3u and .mmap an auto playlist was created under imported playlist. Yay!

The scan results say added 1 new file. But if I go and select view log, its says the .m3u was added. This seems like a bug, as the static .m3u was not added under Imported Playlists, but an auto playlist was created from the .mmap

The main thing is now working for me. Thanks for you help.

But it seems like there is a minor bug with scan/log file messaging

And not sure why you would need the .m3u in addition to the .mmap.

Did you remove the previously imported copy before scanning again?

Thanks Lowlander,

I just tried again, this time with both the .m3u and the .mmap of the autoplaylist in the directory that I did a scan on, and only the static .m3u of the auto playlist appeared under imported playlists after the scan...

Why would you need the .m3u of the auto playlist anyways, since you will be creating the auto playlist off of the criteria in the saved json .mmap?

thanks

You need to have the M3U and MMAP and then on scan it will create the AutoPlaylist under Imported Playlists.

How do you get MM to import the auto playlist .mmap json to re-create the autoplaylist?

On MM2027.0.0.3514

I tried "File->Add/Rescan files to add to the library" on a directory that contained the autoplaylist .mmap but no corresponding playlist was created.

Playlists were created under Playlists\Imported Playlist for .m3u playlists that were in that directory.

Thanks

Lowlander,

Ok, I'm now running 3514 and the new functionality works as it should upon export of all playlists.

Ok, I see I was running 3222, I will install 3514 and test it again, thanks!

It works here on 3514. mmap files are created for AutoPlaylists on export.

Ludek,

I've been testing MM 2027 and I don't see the functionality described in https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=21530 when I export all playlists. Closed Issue 0021530 says "Added to File > Export > Export all playlists..
where each '*.m3u' file is now exported together with associated '*.mmap' file including the auto-playlist criteria (JSON format)", but when I export all playlists, only '*.m3u" files get created for my AutoPlaylists (no '*.mmap' files are generated).

The request is fine and useful (probably could be done via an Addon as well), but there are ways to keep things when reinstalling (Windows) or moving PC. I've been using the same database for over 21 years now.

Lowlander -

Sure you could always restore you entire database if it gets corrupted, but what if you want to start from scratch and rescan your music directories then just reimport your Playlists and AutoPlaylists?

Currently, you can restore the playlists from exported m3u files, but there is no way to restore your auto-playlists. That is why I asked for a way to export/import your AutoPlaylist criteria (also giving you the ability to just backup your AutoPlaylists and restore a single AutoPlaylist if it accidentally get deleted for instance).

It would also give AutoPlaylist criteria more portability between MediaMonkey users.

If you reinstall, you can restore from backup. You can also migrate to a new PC: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index. ... w_computer (works the easiest if files remain stored the same way).

Just to add, I would really love this, as a way of backing/transferring AutoPlaylist definitions. Every time I install/reinstall MMW, rebuilding my AutoPlaylists definitions takes a lot of time.
