I always use EAC for ripping - if for nothing else than the CRC check while using Burst Mode.
If I need to gather information from Gracenote, then I use the very small, free "Player" by James Chapman (see
http://www.vuplayer.com/) to grab the CD info instead.
This allows me to then very quickly export the info to CDplayer.ini and load it into EAC (Database / get CD info from / cdplayer.ini). This was very handy when I ripped over 500 CD's in a 3 week period.
