You should add both. If you have at least one non ok'ed dup the main node will display them all.

A follow-up question:

When I have two duplicates (that are, but are from two different albums), do I right-click and add both or only one to the "OK" list. I know it's probably in the help files and the forum, but I've searched and can't find it, so please excuse my momentary cluelessness.

There was a recent scandal where iTunes audio fingerprinting (like MediaMonkey hash) uncovered an artist that basically copied other peoples work.

But the Duplicate content node works on the audio part and compares those between tracks, the tags are irrelevant. This makes it a nice feature for those who have an unorganized library.

It did make me wonder if MM isn't spotting "cheats" -- where the company or a ripper or compiler uses the track from one album to complete another. In almost every case, the file is identical in length, bitrate, artist, and title. MM seems to ignore other factors when deciding.

The odd ones are two differnt titles flagged as duplicates. in once case, it turned out that the two songs were identical -- same song, two different titles. So MM seems to be able to catch these sorts of duplicaiton errors.

Seems odd. Perhaps the database did or has the same id for 2 different tracks.

There is a script to remove the hash (dont have a link), then you can re-scan then affected files/folder and see if that fixes it.

Alternatively, you can remove both files from the library (but not from hard drive) and re-scan them.

If it happens again, I'd suggest sending the files (or a link to them somewhere) to the support email so they can figure out what the problem is.

I re-scanned my collection with MM set to check for duplicates (creates a hash value for the file??). it took a lot, lot longer this time (but now it's done). So now I'm dealing with the duplicates in "Duplicate Content" and finding some that shouldn't be listed. For example:

Shakira's "¿Dónde Estás Corazón?" from "Grandes Exitos" and the same title from "Pies Descalzos" are identified. But they are not the same content -- they have different years, track #s and album titles, and are different sizes. They have the same artist, title, genre, length, and bit rate.

I'd expect these to show up under a Duplicate Artist+Title search but I thought "Duplicate Content" needed more than that.
