yes i understood now that i need to work with server name or probably ip address \\192.168.10.2\...\\
but that means i have to redo my 16000 song playlist library

another question please sir
i have my music playlists like this
Music Flac
01 Classical
02 Rock
Music HiRes
03 Audphile
04
Music MedRes
05 Jazz

the playlist names now is
Music Flac -01 Classical
Music HiRes 03 Audiphile
Music MedRes 05 Jazz

is there anyway in the export that media monkey removes the NODE father name and only use playlist name like the previuos media monkey4 did
thanks for your time

Are you exporting the Playlists to the N drive (required) or a different local drive (won't work)?

Hi,
Main issue is that you use mapped drive letter where in order to have relative Playlists you need to create them to N:\ as that way playlist will not contain drive letter.

The best solution is that playlist uses UNC path eg. "\\<SERVERNAME>\<SHARED FOLDER>\queen\invisible man.mp3" and avoid mapped drive letters where ever is possible.

exactly "It works fine for me when exporting from a local drive and saving on that drive"
I have my music Mp3 on local drive d:
I have Flacs with HIRES on MY NAS mapped drive on my computer as N:\

I have LowRES for Mp3 music
I have HIRES playlists

when i export all playlists as i use to in mediamoneky 4
use to get all playlists with ..\ so as to play them from my naim media player which reads my NAS drive
for the HIRES playlist now i have to edit each playlist and replace the N:\ drive with ..\ in order for the playlist to be played on my naim media player
however the LoewRes Playlists come our correct ..\ relative path

Which exact method are you using to export?

Are you creating the Playlist file on the same drive as the files on the Playlist? Are there networked files involved?

It works fine for me when exporting from a local drive and saving on that drive. However it fails to it when saving the Playlist file on a different local drive (which makes sense).

Playlists are generated with absolute path instead of relative path, which breaks playback on some devices

In MMW4, when I generated an M3U playlist, the tracks would be listed as relative path from the root folder of my music; e.g. "The Alan Parsons Project\Eye in the Sky\10 Old and Wise.wma". However, in MMW5, they are generated as full path, e.g. "D:\Music\The Alan Parsons Project\Eye in the Sky\10 Old and Wise.wma". This breaks sharing playlists with other devices where I have copies of my music but for which those absolute paths don't make sense (for example, my Ford Sync 3, which has the music on a thumbdrive), and I end up having to manually edit the playlist file to remove the drive letter and root folder before using it on those devices.

There doesn't seem to be a Tools/Option setting to specify relative path vs. absolute path with generating playlists. Assuming I haven't missed a setting, could this new behavior either be reverted, or an option added to specify absolute vs. relative when generating playlists? (For now, I'll have to use MMW4 to generate the lists.)
