I only have a handful of Genre's so I can't scroll through them. Yes it also happens with albums. Anything that has to load in the album art seems to cause hitching/stuttering. Current count is 1538 artists, so I suspect pretty heavy on the CPU to stream all that in.

I've been having such a blast rediscovering old favorites, and hearing songs I haven't heard in years. Outstanding.

I'm on the latest Beta of MMA.

Regarding the ability to hide album art, we don't have such an option atm, but perhaps we can add this as a dev option. Can you confirm though: is the stuttering _only_ when scrolling through Artists? or does it also happen when scrolling through Albums or Genres (I find it strange that the issue would only occur for Artists)?

Re. the other issues (stuttering with Gapless & track skipping), what version of MMA are you using? Version 2.1.1.1184/85 which is currently rolling out includes some playback-related fixes that should resolve this. If it still occurs once you've updated, please submit a debug log after replicating the issue (in the menu, tap Help > Send logs) and share the log ID here.

Alright did some more testing. I had battery saver completely disabled on MM, and set to "always run in the background". I think the app is just struggling with how many tracks I have.

Pixel phones aren't known for their CPU performance so that's probably not helping. Just happy to have all of my songs in my pocket for the first time in a decade... wonderful.

I'm wondering, is there an artist list option that doesn't have album art, just long list of the artist names? I would be interested to switch to that view and see if it's indeed the album art that is causing the hitching.

Regarding actual bugs:

Noticed one strange error where a song will finish, then a song a few down the playlist will play for a second, then it will go back to the next song in the list. This has happened a few times.

It's still a bit choppy on the album grid but better. If I scroll quickly the fps drop and the artwork slowly loads in. Once it's loaded if I scroll slowly it's ok. If i scroll quickly it gets chopping again.

It seems the artwork loading is causing the hitching. Even if I go through a few dozen albums to "cache" the art, it still seems to pull it in real time.

Might just be the sheer number of tracks I've got on here. The app is just unresponsive in general. If I shuffle all, it hangs for a few seconds until it plays. When switching tracks also hangs for a second.

I had to turn off gapless as there was a but of a stutter happening. The next track would play for a second, then pause, then start playing again. This was fixed by disabling gapless.

Prior to this I had a Pixel 6, with around 10k tracks and it was pretty smooth. I'm going to do some digging into the P10PXL to see if there is a way I can increase performance. Maybe there is some battery saver business going on.

Wow! Glad you're enjoying MM! I don't think I've heard of anyone using MMA with 30k tracks!

Does the choppy scrolling only occur in the Artist [Grid] view? Or also in the Album [Grid] ?

Is there a way to "cache" album art on the device? Seems the art is loaded as you are scrolling through, I'm guessing MM just has a pointer to the folder which points to the tracks and art.

Seems a little smoother if I enable "adaptive colors (album grid)". Maybe more stress on the GPS causes it to clock up a bit? Not sure.

Incredible to finally have a way to get all of my music on the go. Loving MM.

Been using MM and MMA for ages now. Just yesterday I picked up a new phone and was able to get a 1TB... finally my entire life's music collection in my pocket! Just about 30k tracks. Outstanding!!! Pixel 10 pro xl.

Left it to sync overnight and it was completed in the morning. My question is in regards to scrolling through the artist folder. In album art view it's very choppy, like 15 fps. In the list view it's still choppy, but a little better.

Is there an option somewhere to allow MMA to make full use of the CPU/device refresh rate? I'm got MM to always run in the background and I don't know of any other options.

Or is this how it is with a larger collection?
