Unless you find a way to fully import iTunes' database, you probably will have to do that. Depending on when you started using iTunes the tags might be quite a mess. You'll also presumably loose the cover art of many files because at one point Apple stopped writing it to the files but instead stored the images on the HDD using cryptic filenames and an obscure file format.

Migrating from iTunes to MediaMonkey took me one week, but it definitely was worth the effort.

I don't get such an option. I have tried reinstalling MM. iTunes is installed normally...

I don't get that Dialog.

The option to import from iTunes should be shown after Add/Rescan Files is finished. If it doesn't show make sure iTunes is installed normally and you may have to re-enable in the ini (See notes on enabling Import Data dialog: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... /4.0#Notes)

I deleted everything from MediaMonkey as the tags were all wrong, but now I can't find any option to 'import music from itunes library'...let alone a dialog that aks me if I want to import information from iTunes.

I have looked through the menus but I can't seem to find this.

Is the only way to add tracks to MM to scan folders? I don't want to do this, as there are lots of tracks on my HD that I have deleted from my iTunes and don't want on MM.

Essentially I want everything currently on my iTunes, exactly the way it is (tag wise) to be in my MM library.

That being said, there should be an option after you scan the music files into MediaMonkey to import metadata directly from iTunes into MM. Don't you get that dialog that asks if you want to import information from iTunes?

Hi,

I have wanted to move from iTunes to another music player, e.g. MediaMonkey, for quite some time; however there are some problems.

I have around 12000 tracks in my iTunes library, all tagged properly. Most have correct artwork and even the correct record label in the 'Grouping' field.

When I try to add my iTunes library to MediaMonkey I lose around 80% of my tags. I don't want to spend the next week correcting the tags on 1000s of tracks.

Why is this happening? How can I consolidate the tags in iTunes?
