Thanks for the very in-depth response. I stumbled on a simpler solution though- moving one of the auto-organize libraries above the other so the rules were read by MM in a different order. It's strange but it works.

Here is what I do with my video and tv files. First I have 2 external drives just for video and tv. Might be a bit convoluted but has worked for me for quite some time.

Drive1; this drive hold a folder for new files and a folder for TV series
Drive2; this drive holds the last remaining series in one folder and the all movies in a second folder

When i rip new files or are give files from friends I first make sure they have my naming convention.

001 - From Dusk Till Dawn the Series - S01E01 - 2014 - Pilot

This contains the SeriesEpisode#, SeriesTitle, Season#Episode#, Year, Title

When they have the right naming convention I drop them into the 'new' folder. MMW is watching this folder and so the file automatically goes into MMW. I then use Ctrl-Q and a mask of
<Srs#> - <Series> - S<Season#>E<Episode#> - <Year> - <Title>
and updates the tags and mmw.

Now for me I keep these 'new' files in the directory for about a month then they get moved to their correct directory. This would be under the folder TV Series/Series name. The reason I keep them in this new folder is because I belong to a group and we share recorded episodes. So they can ftp into my site and see what is there they want OR leave me and episode they recorded.

So every month i go through the 'new' folder and select the files to move and Ctrl-R to 'auto-organize' the files.

I know this is more manual than you are wanting, just thought I would share. I have 16k eps and has worked well while ripping dvds of shows and recording current one AND I have about 2K more DVDs to go. Movies are handled very similar but go into the Movies folder.

Auto-Organize Video and TV files

I cannot figure out how to properly auto-organize files with the "video" type.

What I want is to keep new TV and Video files on my d: drive while putting older stuff on my external drive. My organize rules work for the TV files perfectly, but only sort-of for the video files: new video files are put in the proper collection (called D:) but still follow the organize rules for other video files (they stay on the external hard drive). I don't know how to explain this any better sorry. Any help??
