This is what I did.
  • I installed MediaMonkey on another computer
    Mapped the shared folder to the same letter.
    Scanned through the collection.
    Copied the database over to my DJ computer
    Started MM and now it scans normaly fast :)

You can always capture the scan in a debug log (step 4b) and send it to support for developer analysis: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=69

Nopp, I learned a while ago that always click on "Now Playing" when scanning through the folders...

Are you viewing a node with all the files listed? The more files listed in the Filelisting the longer scanning takes as the Filelisting needs to be updated continuously.

I haven't been in the settings for months, so they are exactly the same as when it worked fine a couple of days ago.

No duplicate scanning.

I tried another media manager and it scanned the collection in only a couple of minutes, MM takes hours. But the features in MM are so much better, that I'd rather find a solution to my problem, than have to switch to a lesser software.

Restarded and rebooted many times. Even reinstalled and then applied the old settings and database.

Tools > Options > Library both the duplicate scanning setting and the settings related how to rescan files already in the Library can influence scanning speed.

Have you tried a PC restart and which version of MediaMonkey?

Suddenly Slow!

Hello,

Suddenly the scan of new MP3s is slow. It worked fine 2 days ago, but yesterday and today the saccning is so slow that I can read the songs it scans.

I haven't updated anything or installed/uninstalled. It is exactly the same Win 8.1 Pro for several months.

What can I do? Optimize database didn't work.
