rovingcowboy, I wasn't looking for anything specific at iTunes, just wanted to see what they have to offer for classical music, and found total disorganization, two categories for opera, one of them containing mostly pop and lots of symphonic and non-operatic works, just one great big mess. They can ...

Classical music needs

Recently, I installed iTunes and had a BIG surprise; They know even lass about classical music than MM. They have their classical categories so disorganized that it was next to impossible to find the music I had wanted to buy. Because of that experience, I suspect that it may help the MM development ...

Hello Bex, looks like you posted almost at the same time I was editing my post after I realised that THAT is the only way to post my screen capture here. Nontheless, your helpfulness is appreciated. urlwolf, yes, I know quite a number of classical music lovers as well, that would appreciate a chance ...

The above "guest" was me, don't know why I got logged out. Looks like I still can't upload pictures, so I put it on display here: http://realgsd.ca/mm/ A quick translation: Werk = Work or composition Verz. = Cataloging name and number of the composition Komponist = Composer Dir. = Conductor ...

That is rather interesting info behind those links, and obviously, THAT many fields WOULD clutter up a computer screen. I will do some research on ID3 etc., and then post my suggestions. It may take me a while.

Steegy, Bach wrote several “Toccata und Fuge”, knowing the BWV-number could identify it much better. And I would be rather interested in which performance it is, which organ in which churche, so I can compare them with other performances, or if it was transscribed for guitare or harp, and of course, ...

Cutting that many corners isn't going to work. I have the impression that rusty doesn't really know all that much about classical music.

Yeah I guess we could start a long discussion about this, but here's the short version of my opinion: - if you have each movement in a separate file it's a real pain to play an entire work in one piece. Unless you prefer to listen just to individual movements, you would have to add ALL movements of ...

Lowlander, I used to agree with you on this in principle, but had to learn the hard way that I had nothing but problems with beta versions, couldn’t handle the bugs, so I resolved many years ago that I would not touch them again ever. Core of that problem is that I don’t understand coder’s lingo, whi ...

Not knowing how much the development team knows about classical music (except that there must be some lack of knowledge or they would have incorporated classical support from the beginning), I can only guess and try to give a brief outline on some of the essential needs of classical music lovers. In ...

Not knowing the first thing about coding, I can only extrapolate from what I see being done here (with MM) and lately also with iPod. Because iPod can handle customized menus and MM can be synchronized with iPod, would THERE be a way to handle classical music more conveniently? I certainly recognize ...

Thanks Teknojnky, that certainly DOES explain a lot.

I will now have to find out if the VW "Monsoon sound system" (supposed to be the best) can play data mp3s.

Something is amiss here. I have been told that CDs can hold many times the number of MP3s than Wave files, but according to my MMs status bar, 649.5MB of MP3s represent 9:22:23 of playtime. If I reduce playtime to below 1:23:33 (assuming that “type 74” means 74 minutes of play time), then I can only ...

I have never seen any references to total play-minutes, neither on new CDs, nor in MM when selecting tracks. Do I need to manually add-up the play time minutes as displayed in the play list "Length" column before burning a CD? How many minutes can a 650MB CD hold?
