Re: Files keep graying out.

I've experienced two flavors of this: 1. MM jumps from one gray track to the next until it finally plays one that is not gray. In this case it always seems that MM lost track of the files for some reason, which is fixed with Locate Moved/Missing Files. 2. MM fails to play a song, turns the track gra...

Re: Files keep graying out.

This usually occurs because MM can't find the tracks to play. Try selecting some of them and running File>Locate Moved/Missing Files... and select the directory they're in. That should re-establish the connection. If that works, you can do it for all of the other tracks.

Re: CD Location

You can tag multiple tracks at once. If you select an entire album, you can edit the custom tag for all of its tracks at the same time.

Re: Sorting titles containing numbers

Yes, the leading zeroes is the only thing that will work for your scheme, but since that scheme works really well for you otherwise, going with them is worth any unsightliness. You'll only need it in the album field so long as your numbering your tracks. As an old guy who bought his first album (roc...

Re: Sorting titles containing numbers

What I do can only be done with MM Gold because AutoPlaylist functionality is not included in the free version. It is well worth the price. By "album model" I am referring to the long tradition of releasing a group of songs on a single (or a few) record(s) or disk(s). This model may be waning, and t...

Re: Sorting titles containing numbers

To avoid putting leading zeroes into the titles, the appearance of which I do not like, I put them into the grouping. I use groupings to identify works and artists, usually conductor. So for example grouping 1 = Haydn: Symphony No. 006 [Pinnock], grouping 2 = Haydn: Symphony No. 019 [Fischer], and g...

Re: New guy speed question

I store all of my 240,000 tracks on a 4TB external drive and run MM4 as portable off that drive on a desktop and a laptop using Windows 10. No problems with playback on either, so MM can certainly handle a large library.

Re: Ripping multiple disc sets

I prefer to have most of my multi-disc albums appear as one album in my playlists, so I do not name them differently (e.g. Disc 2, Disc 2) if they have the same album art. The exception is classical box sets composed of multiple albums. I do name each individually so that each disc has its particula...

Re: What exactly is destroying a great Music Browser?

I'll give that a try. I wish I could figure out a way to run synchronized version of MM4 on two computers and just keep the music files on the portable drive. The wone thing that the drives I've had problems with is that they are SATA III drives in USB-C enclosures connected to USB-C ports on three ...

Re: What exactly is destroying a great Music Browser?

I have no other read/write problems with this Samsung 860 PRO drive. It is a professional-grade, heavy-duty, extended life drive. Only with MediaMonkey. I had the same MediaMonkey-only problem with the previous drive with a different cable. And I never use cheap garbage cables. I'll upgrade the hous...

Re: What exactly is destroying a great Music Browser?

Are you perchance using a portable install. I've been having similar problems for months. I upgrade every time a new MM4 version is available. I keep MM4 and my entire 2.9 TB library of 240,000 tracks on an external 4TB SSD. My DB file is 1.2 GB. Though paused now due to coronavirus, I travel a lot ...

Re: Why is "Remove Device" grayed out??

Thanks! The reset worked in combination with deleting Apple Music from the phone and reinstalling it. I'd already made sure nothing else was checked but one small playlist. Thank goodness I didn't have to remove the database. Countless hours devoted over many years to creating a couple of a couple o...

Why is "Remove Device" grayed out??

Latest version of MM. The following dll files are in the Portable Device Sync node of Options: d_iPhone, d_iPod and d_WMDM. There are devices listed there that I don't even have. I also want to delete all reference to my iPhone and start over with it because I'm having problems with syncing, includi...

Re: Album Tag Problem

You could try: https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=42085&hilit=database+sync to copy corrupt db to new db and see if it works. Thanks. I actually paid for the deluxe version, but it keeps erroring, even if I only try to import the playlists, so I suspect that the database corrupti...

Thanks. That got me part of the way there. Now it's simply leaving the Album field blank.
