Folder/Directory not being added - 4.1

Hi,

I recently upgrade MM to 4.1 on my WinXP machine and realigned some folders... Specifically I have Folder W: that is linked to a Media Server (called JDisk7) directory "NewMusic" and a Folder Y: that is linked to the same Media Server except the directory is "Music". Under "Entire Library -> Location" the Y: directory doesn't show up after doing a scan for songs (mostly mp3's). They instead seem to be getting added to the W: directory - which, of course, doesn't work when I try to play a song. The Add/rescan option runs, showing "Adding xxx of yyy..." on the bottom - however, at the end it shows "did not import 8141 files (did not match import criteria)". I have ensured all forms of music types are checked under Add/Rescan folders -> file types, and under options left "ignore fiels shorter than" (20 kb) and "ignore files shorter than" (15 seconds) at thier defaults as my media files are larger than those settings.

I should also note: that during the scans I will get error messages stating "the operation completed succesfully" with only an "ok" button. Hitting ok allows the process to continue.

Does anyone have any suggesitons/ideas of what maybe going wrong? Thanks in advance,

BTW: trying to use "locate moved/missing files" doesn't work either.

Are you saying that files from drive Y show under drive W in MediaMonkey? Did you scan drive Y for files?

Yes,

Files that were scanned under Y are showing up under W -- and, of course, they turn grey as soon as I try and play them. All my scans were done for the directory "Y" and the process bar at the bottom shows "Y".

Just to add to the wierdness... If I try and play a song from "my computer" browser using MediaMonkey -- it won't play because the file can't be found

One last observation -- under "My Computer" within MediaMonkey it list W as "W:\[jdisk7]" and Y as "Y:\[jdisk7]". Expanding the two folder under MM shows the correct listing of subfolders (which are very different). Could MM be seeing W = Y?

I guess there could be an issue with driveID's. I'm not sure what type of debug log may be of use for the developers. I'd suggest to capture the start of MM and the scanning in a debug log (step 4b) and send the log to support: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=69 That may be sufficient to analyze what is the cause of this problem.

If I may ask... Where the instructions on creating a debug log file?

New observation...

I removed drive "W:" from the "My Computer" browser. End result -- W turned into Y. All songs play -- with the exception of those files that should have been part of the actual W drive.

got a reply from tech support - which I am including here for future reference...

"MMW do not tracks files using Drive letter but rather using HDD partition serial number.

In your Case you mapped same HDD and its two folders to two different Drive letters.

End result is that you have twi Drives with same Serial Number which confuses MMW and can't handle that correctly.

MMW always preferred UNC paths instead of Mapped drives so you only need to scan those folders using UNC."
