i have a very importent question.
i use mm gold 3.2.0.1294
itunes 8.2.1.6 (because the newer version do problems with jailbreake iphone)
iphone 3g with version 3.1.2
i used mm because the lyricator script (even rewrite it to support hebrew, if someone want it you can send me a message).
after i sync with mm all the lyrics apear in iphone, but after i sync with itunes all the lyrics gone..
(i dont even have songs in itunes, and of course the manually manage music is check).
the itunes doesn't touch the songs it self, just delete my lyrics.
the lyircs is the reason i use mm and itunes just delete them.
any suggstion is welcome.
thx!

Re: itunes delete lyrics in iphone
I just tested this myself and the lyrics ARE removed after syncing with iTunes. It actually removed the lyrics that were tagged on my podcasts too. I am thinking this is related to the issue I'm having as well where the playcounts are adjusted incorrectly after detecting/syncing in iTunes. It seems that iTunes makes some sort of change to the database (not the actual files) on the iPhone that messes up metadata like lyrics, playcounts, ratings, etc. and is overriding MediaMonkey. Hopefully this is fixable. It definately wasn't like this is past versions.
MediaMonkey Gold 3.2.0.1294
iTunes 9.0.2.25
iPhone 3G (FW 3.1.2)
MediaMonkey Gold 3.2.0.1294
iTunes 9.0.2.25
iPhone 3G (FW 3.1.2)
Re: itunes delete lyrics in iphone
I have the same problem with my 3Gs (same version of MM and iTunes).
Re: itunes delete lyrics in iphone
i think maybe we shuld ask apple about this.
or in itunes forum.
it's itunes problem not media monkey.
is someone volunteer to ask in itunes forum?

Re: itunes delete lyrics in iphone
Apple won't help with this. Apple wants/expects you to only use iTunes to sync with the iPhone/iPod. That's probably the reason they make it difficult to crack the iPod database with each new major firmware release. They aren't going to help or recode iTunes to work better with what is basically competition.
The only hope is that the MediaMonkey developers find a way to prevent iTunes from messing up the metadata that MediaMonkey syncs (e.g. lyrics, playcounts, ratings, etc.). They did it before with iPhone FW 2.2 + iTunes 8 + MediaMonkey 3.1. So far it seems they are either unaware this is going on or are aware of it, but haven't found a way to fix it yet.

Re: itunes delete lyrics in iphone
I figured it out! I googled "music database on iPhone" and found the location of the file that contains the iPod's lyrics: /var/mobile/Media/iTunes_Control/iTunes/iTunes Library.itlp/Extras.itdb
After syncing with MediaMonkey, the file was about 2mb, but after syncing with iTunes it was only about 20kb. I backed up "Extras.itdb" (I used iFile), and replaced it after syncing with iTunes. After a respring, all of my song had lyrics again!

Re: itunes delete lyrics in iphone
great man!
i will try it later.
but what about after resync again with itunes?
we will need to back up this file after every sync with MM, and restore it after every sync with itunes.
it's kind of annoying.
but still better then before.
thx!

Great find! Do you need to be jailbroken to use iFile or apps like it?unclemicahel12 wrote:I figured it out! I googled "music database on iPhone" and found the location of the file that contains the iPod's lyrics: /var/mobile/Media/iTunes_Control/iTunes/iTunes Library.itlp/Extras.itdb

Re: itunes delete lyrics in iphone
i think to develope some script that backup this file after every sync with MM and restore it when you close MM.
(it will be better to run something like that every time before and after sync with itunes (backup before and restore after), but i think apple will not help me with this, but maybe it possible to pass it somehow)
if you know someone who can help me with this please tell me.
have a good day.
