During Synchronization, always recopies [#16558]

I've noticed that there have been issues synchronizing to a folder (haven't tried a device on MM5 yet). If I try to synchronize my entire library to a folder of ample size, I have found the app to put up one or two black dialog boxes that can't be read nor clicked on and synchronization freezes. I recall once that one of the dialog boxes had a title Auto-tag.

So I tried to synchronize incrementally, selecting a moderate number of folders at a time. This time synchronization proceeds to the end.

However, when I add new folders to the existing list, I expected the new folders to be copied but then the prior synched folders to be recognized and not copied. These previously synched folders were recopied as well. Seems to defeat the purpose of sync if recopying occurs regardless.

Maybe a setting I have is forcing recopy? I do use the "Enforce sue of the sync mask for files already on 'xxx'"

And, I see that even though I checked the box to have items not on the source deleted from device (destination), no such deletion occurs. The destination folder has files that are not on the source.

Exactly how are you syncing?

I am synching to a local folder (actually a USB drive but it doesn't reliably show up as a Device but does show up reliably as a folder).

In Configuration, I have selected the drive and folder (destination)

In Auto-Sync(-->Device) I select the source folders. I have also selected "Delete other files...Unselected Library Files". I have selected "Show confirmation dialog".

In Auto-Sync(-->Library) I have NOT selected Auto-sync playlists and new files from device to the PC"

In Sync Profile I have only modified the File Locations for Music: .\<Album Artist>\<Album>\<Track #:2> <Title>
In Sync Profile I have also selected "Enforce use of sync mask for files already on 'xxxxlocation'

Click Apply.

Click Sync

That's about it

I have a Win 10 machine with most recent updates and patches. I use Norton AV. I have dual processors and 64gb.

So is it that for some reason your device was not detected and show in Devces & Services node ?
And thus you added it manually via the (+) button next to the 'Storage & Services' and added "Local storage (folder)" and configured the 'Sync root' on this page:

to point to the drive letter of your device ??

Please share as much info as possible as we are unable to replicate the issue, generating debug log (item 4b here https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewt ... ?f=30&t=69) + sharing some screenshots via a ticket (as requested by Peke) would help much.

Yes, the USB drive is not reliably identified as a device. Sometime it show up, sometime it doesn't.

Adding as a folder was reliable.

However, I reliably get MM5 to freeze when doing a full sync. I can repeat it and send another log file (I sent one as requested as before).

Also, if I select a partial set of folders from the library to sync to the destination folder I can get the app to go to completion. However, though I have selected this option, the files that are not in the library are not deleted. I have selected the option to use the MM5 mask, so, some of the files are identical except for minor changes in file name. And, the files in the destination folder that are not in the library are not deleted.

I will send some screen shots.
