Android sync not working (2255)
Build 2255
Just installed 2255 and tried to run a sync with my Android phone. I reported that this was not working in the last build, but my post seems to have disappeared.
"Connecting" with a spinning circle appears and then, after about a minute, i receive a message "Sync incomplete" and "Connection failed" on my phone.
I have been using this for over a year without a single error, and now it is not working.
I tried deleting the phone under Devices & Services and reconnecting to the sync server - this took about 5 minutes of watching the "searching" disc spinning. Eventually it connected to the server (as a first-time connection) and the sync completed.
I then went in to the device under Devices & Services, selected some playlists, hit "Apply" and then "Sync now" on the phone. Again, a spinning "Connecting" icon and then "Sync incomplete", "Connection failed!".
Hope someone can help with this. Android sync not working is a catastrophe for me.
EDIT: further info:
- in order to successfully sync, I had to click "Select Sync Server" in the phone Options menu, wait about 5 minutes for the phone to find the server (which it is showing in settings as being already connected to), then click on the found server to connect, then Sync from that same page. Then the sync works.
This is the only way I have been able to sync since the previous build.

Re: Android sync not working (2255)
Hi, as you are using Wi-Fi sync initiated from MMA then we would need to see also MMA log to see why this is happening.
1) Be sure that you have the newest build of MMA 1.3.9.903 (so that fixes like https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=16673 are included)
Once MMA shows the "Sync incomplete" then send the logs from MMA and put the log id here
EDIT: Also as you have trouble seeing/accessing the MM5 server in MMA then I guess that something from
http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... e/View/152
could resolve the issues.
Namely items 2,3,7 from the KB article worth to try.

Re: Android sync not working (2255)
Hi.
I have a few questions - need help to follow your instructions.
How do I get the latest MMA builds?
I thought apps on my phone just automatically update to the latest version through Google Play. I have never manually updated an app on my phone that I installed from the Google Play store.
Strange thing is that Android sync between my phone and MM5 have been working perfectly until the last build (the one before this 2255). I have literally synced my phone almost every day since I first installed MM5.
Sorry, I'm a bit ignorant, but how do I send you logs from MMA?

1) See the following on the latest beta builds for MMA: https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewt ... 21&t=89969

Thanks, waiting for colleague from MMA team to analyze the log and let you know.MMA Log ID: 5FVYHYZN54
But based on your previous description I supect a timeout issue as you are saying that MMA is searching for the MM5 server for minutes?
i.e. I suppose that also other apps on Android (e.g. BubbleUPnP) don't see the MM5 server?
Also if you in MMA go to UPnP then I guess it fails to show MM5 server in the list ?
Interesting, you could try to install an older MM5 build to see whether it works any better then, but I doubt that this will help.Strange thing is that Android sync between my phone and MM5 have been working perfectly until the last build (the one before this 2255). My suspection is that rather a Windows 10 Update broken something related to network/firewall settings.
Could you test whether suggestion from this KB article can narrow this down?
http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... e/View/152
Namely see item 2 (firewall blocking the connection), item 3 (disabled network discovery), item 7 (network reset after Win10 update)
Thanks!
Re: Android sync not working (2255)
Hi
However, on attempting to Sync, MMA is unable to connect to the server. The Sync attempt takes less than a minute.
My current work-around is to click on "Select Sync Server" and wait 5 minutes for MMA to find the MM5 MediaMonkey Library server again. It takes ages, but it does eventually find it, connect - and then I am able to sync. But only once. After that MMA is again unable to connect.
The problem is not with finding the server (though this takes a long time), it is with connecting.
I don't use any other media/network apps on my phone, but I installed BubbleUPnP just to test and it does find and recognize the MediaMonkey Library.
In MMA options, under "Select sync server" it says: "Sync Server: MediaMonkey Library (ACER-SWIFT-BBT)" - this is the correct MM5 server. Also if you in MMA go to UPnP then I guess it fails to show MM5 server in the list ?

Re: Android sync not working (2255)
ok, thanks.
MMA log shows
Which is strange, as agent.xml is not descriptor of MM5 server, it looks that it must be another server on the network that could somehow block MMA this way.

ok, and BubbleUPnP does show the MM5 server immediatelly in the list or it also takes ages?I don't use any other media/network apps on my phone, but I installed BubbleUPnP just to test and it does find and recognize the MediaMonkey Library.
Try to long-touch the MM5 server (once found) and select "Save". It should be permanent workaround for you (according to MMA colleague) as the saved servers are accessed immediatelly (without a need to discover and match)My current work-around is to click on "Select Sync Server" and wait 5 minutes for MMA to find the MM5 MediaMonkey Library server again. Re: Android sync not working (2255)
I have only two network locations showing in Windows Explorer - my laptop, and the MM5 server (when MM5 is open of course).Which is strange, as agent.xml is not descriptor of MM5 server, it looks that it must be another server on the network
It is there immediately on opening the app in the list of available servers.BubbleUPnP does show the MM5 server immediatelly in the list or it also takes ages?
I will try this, thank you. However, I do believe that my MM5 server should already be saved in MMA app as it shows up in the settings when I start the app. Anyway, I will try long-pressing the next time I have to use my workaround to resync the phone.Try to long-touch the MM5 server (once found) and select "Save". Re: Android sync not working (2255)
Hi
So, strangely, it has suddenly started working again. That is, I press Sync Now in MMA and it immediately connects to the MM5 server and starts the sync process.
Also, when I tap on Select Sync Server, it finds the MM5 server almost instantly.
I can't figure out what has changed on my system. I uninstalled a couple of programmes that I don't use any more. I also restarted my router for the first time in a couple of months.
Would still be interested to hear what might have been causing the problem, but as far as I can tell at the moment, the Android sync feature in MM5/MMA is working normally now.

Re: Android sync not working (2255)
ok, so you probably applied the workaround of long-touch and Save in MMA?
Or are you saying that it suddenly started to work again also without the "Save" workaround and the router restart helped?

Re: Android sync not working (2255)
No, like I said, the MM5 server was already saved in MMA - it has been for months.so you probably applied the workaround of long-touch and Save in MMA?
The problem was with connecting to it, and that seems to have simply started working again without the workaround I described in my earlier post.
Possibly the router restart helped, I have no idea.
Shall I sync again and send logs, or are you happy to just call this a temporary glitch probably something to do with my router?

OK, so no more logs are needed then.bdbtbb wrote: Possibly the router restart helped, I have no idea.
