Adding Custom Fields resets the playcount to 0

Post by Weatherman »

Hi all, MM 20186
Strange one.
When I add a custom field, the track resets the playcount to zero.
I use Custom 5 to indicate whether the currently playing track is in a "top album" and I use Custom 6 to indicate whether a track is a "top track".
I fill in the fields using ordinary text, i.e. I would type "Top Album" or "Top Track".
But whenever I fill in any of these custom fields, the playcount of the track resets to zero. If I have highlighted all of the tracks in an album and filled in the "Top Album" (Custom 5) field, all the tracks reset to zero.

It also happens if you change the main "Genre". Resets the playcount to 0 and deletes the Last Played field.

Hi, that's very strange.

I cannot replicate and don't see a way how this could happen.
Do you use any addons/extensions?
How exactly you edit the fields? Using Properties dialog or F2 editing? Or does this happen using whatever editing method?

It happens if I change the properties whilst the song is playing (obviously, if it already previously had a playcount).
I am playing a track (MP3 track), I right-click, select properties, enter whatever (Genre, or a custom field), and the track resets itself to 0 playcount and no last played date.

If I have selected a group of tracks (eg an album), or a group of tracks (playlist), and I apply a change to all of them (for example a Genre change, or an entry in a custom field), it happens too. All the previously played songs in that list lose their playcount and lose the Last Played entry.

This has only happened since latest version.
