new tags are not permanent and are overwritten by the historical data [#16482]

Post by Macarena »

Hi,

using MM5 build 2234, I ripped a CD and while tagging the tracks, I observed a strange behavior: although saved into the track, the tags are overwritten with the historical data, when the track is played or a title tag is overwritten.
  • The internal rip process has been used.
  • Mass rename was used (it had to be applied twice and only on the second renaming I could type non-ASCII UTF-8 characters such as á and ö)
  • The tags were saved and checked in an external player (VLC media player) and in Windows native File properties.
  • Find more from same... > Folder (My Library) sometimes updates new tags also.
I recorded a DebugLOG and a Jing screen capture. I can send a track or all 10 of them to the devs by PM and on request.

It seems that editing the tags one by one helps to fix the tags and they are not removed later. So, I also have two track were the tags are "fixed". The other 8 tracks have "fluid" tags.

Please submit a ticket with the log and jing capture: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... ets/Submit

Tickets are more preferred way than PMs as devs can assign them one to eachother, are visible by all devs and you can also add an attachement.

Thanks!

Pardon me for butting in. This is good to know, but the facility seems broken.
  • I try to create a ticket using my usual UserName and Password, from your link, and it says Invalid Username or Password
  • I try to Register, and it takes for to here, where I am already signed in using the UserName and Password that you won't accept
  • there is no link to this facility in the Help menu, in MM5's UI
  • this procedure needs to be covered in this post, at point 4.b

@Barry, I wonder whether this issue https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=16444 could be your case?
i.e. does your password contains any of the special characters %&@+^ ?

@Macarena: thanks, seeing the ticket submitted as IFY-813-43824 -- let's continue via the ticket
EDIT: Resulted in https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=16482

No special characters in my pwd.

I found the problem, your ticket facility is case sensitive re username, and the forum is not.

You could standardise your credential validation polices, between your forum and ticket fora ... ie username be case insensitive in both places.

You could add facility to create and monitor tickets into the the MM5 Help menu.
