Single Line Display for now playing? [#16885]

Post by musziqluvher »

Soooooo I've finally made the leap to MM5 Beta. Loving it so far. However, I would like to know if there's a way that I can return my now playing to the previous SINGLE line format that it used to be. Artist - Song. I don't need Artist - Album on a second line.

I really like MM5 also, but along with the many steps forward, there are a few steps backwards, and this is one of them.
MM4 allowed you to chose the display columns for the Now Playing panel.
MM5 has a limited layout facility for panels other than the main panel, but it is implemented only for the Play bar, and the panel that has the Selected/Playing toggle. There appears to be nothing for what was called the Now Playing panel, and now confusingly shares the same name as the already existing "Playing" panel.

You can resize the column width so that each track takes just a single line, but you have to give a lot of screen space.

The other thing that they will probably tell you, is that the new tech, that MM5 is built upon, makes it much easier for you to hack screen layout to your own requirements .. My opinion is that while MM5 is not yet mature, nor fully stable, this is not a good idea atm, as there may be more than enough issues with vanilla MM5, without introducing confusion with other variables.
Want a dark skin for MM5? This is the one that works best for me .. elegant, compact & clear.

Screen space I have, so that's not *too* big of an issue. Thanks for that tip. It worked great. I either use two screens (one of them being my TV) or have it maximized in another window anyway.

I would like, however, a separate now playing window. This is one of the features that I miss from WinAmp. Having separate, modular windows for each section.

Another addition I'm waiting on is integration with streaming music services. A few yrs ago I read something about services like Amazon Music being added. It's the only music service that I have, and I highly dislike Amazon's Music player.

+1 for allowing the option to have separate modular windows for each section.

Note that MM5 can work with Spotify and Google Play Music (which Google is discontinuing and should get replaced with YouTube Music in a future release).

Thanks for the Now Playing Update.

The streaming music isn't a deal breaker for me. I don't use Spotify or GPM anyway. It would just be an added benefit. My primary player will always be MM. I just use Amazon when I want to download music (since I'm already a prime member), format it how I want, then import it into MM.
