Trying MM5 Again - Bug Reports and Feature Request [#16996][#15293]

Hello,

As an advance user of MM4, I am trying to give MM5 another changes. I am kinda liking it as I am able to re-create a much similar setup to my MM4. Which is really great! Kudos to the developers for keep polishing the application. Personally, I find MM5 more usable now.

There are few things that caught my attention.

1. I am a tree nodes user. I have enabled "Show all subnodes". The issue that I notice that it is very inconsistent with the expanding of subnodes/albums of the artist. MM4 does not have this behaviour.



Could you use the same behaviour of MM4. About 50% of my library are affected by this. Even if the artist has only have 1 album, there should be a triangle to expand it. Hope you can fix this in the next build.

2. In my Playlist view, I have set a certain column width for diffract field. But it does not remember my column width. Each time I jump from different playlist, column width gets resets. Please fix this.

3. I understand that that MonkeyTunes was Plugin for MM4 where users can control MM4 using their iOS devices using the Apple Remote app. I understand that MonkeyTunes will not be ported to MM5 as the developer is no longer developing it. Could you please add the same ability natively into MM5?

Do you have an album by Non Blondes, or do you only have Non Blondes tracks on composite albums (ie. albums with tracks by Various Artists)?

In my database I only notice the issue with composite albums.

As you say this behaviour is different to MM4 .... There may be different opinions about which behaviour is preferred. I actually prefer the new behaviour, as I am album-focused, rather than track-focused. ... The main grid shows the albums, so navigation does not suffer. And from my POV the triangle has nothing to open, because the artist owns no albums. ... maybe they could make it a configurable option?

The MM5 behaviour seems to be a bug. It seems that if a artist "owns" zero albums, then the artist node is not openable.
But if an artist "owns" at least one album, then the artist node is openable, and it includes both "owned" albums, as well as composite albums.

This behaviour is too complex to be useful IMO, so I agree with you ... the MM4 behaviour was preferable.

Thanks for the investigation and thanks for sharing my view on this! I am very much an Artist/Track focused person. I don't like the grid view and never used it. I have always used list view.
I really think that the developers need to revert the "subnodes" to MM4 behaviour.

I really hope the developers can address 2 & 3.

I really love using my Apple Remote app on my iphone and the ability to play & control my MM4 library. With MM5, this is lost. I hope the developers can integrate Digital Audio Control Protocol (DACP) natively into MM5. It becomes more useful.

2. I can't replicate, do you have Auto Column width enabled (Right click on Columns header)?

3. In MM5 you will be able to access MM5 player directly from your browser on your devices there will be no need for MonkeyRemote eg. using http://<PC WITH MM5 IP:<MM5 SERVER PORT>/ so UI and control Apps can be easily made to support it. (Scheduled for MM 5.1)

2. The Column resizing is so finicky!! I have tried both "Auto Column" enabled and disabled. Sometime it remembers and sometime it does not.

3. MM 5.1? That is a long way to go.. Any way to prioritise it forward? Not sure if I will still be alive by then? Hopefully I still am.

2. If you find a ay to reproduce few times in a raw. I would like to have steps to do it.

3. 5.1 is already in making ATM that means it will most likely not be in First iteration of MM5.0, but who knows it is elevated now

4. Not all vies allow lasso selection. Which one fails?
