Ratings inside player are near-impossible to see when they're not yet rated [#17014]

At first I thought it was an issue with just the default skin, but it appears to be the case for all skins. When a track has not been rated, the rating area is nearly impossible to see. I do understand why it's like this— it's to differentiate between unknown rating and zero rating inside the list view and playing list. However, the list view and playing list have a well-defined area dedicated to the rating stars; which makes it easy to locate. But on the player bar, the ratings are very difficult to locate when a track has an unknown rating.

I think that on the player bar, an unknown rating should have the same appearance as a 0 star rating. That way, it will be much easier to see where the rating is.

I personally had trouble with the zero rating (formerly bomb) thinking the file was still unrated.

To be honest, I disagree - Even though I know where the ratings are, it's still difficult to locate. It's nearly impossible to see, and that's just bad design. Also, I was not aware that people actually rated tracks 0 stars. To me, seeing a track with 0.5 stars looks worse than one whose rating appears empty.

Anyways, if you make the player bar display empty ratings the same as zero ratings, I do not believe it would cause any confusion.
Firstly, there are two other areas to view a track's rating - the list view and now playing list - whose appearances I don't think need to be changed. And secondly, if it's bad enough to be rated zero stars, why would you be playing it in the first place?

Additionally, it doesn't appear to be possible to rate something zero stars in MMA. Unrated tracks look like zero stars, and the appearance does not change if I specifically set it to zero. (I don't think that's an issue however. I'm perfectly happy with that behavior.)

I assume that Skinners could create different Skins where Ratings are displayed in a different color scheme.

They definitely can, but I'm suggesting this because I think it would benefit everyone if it's more visible.

Thanks! If those suggestions are put in place, I think it would be great. I like the 1px outline idea for 0 star ratings.
