Changing language in new Built 2281 [#17168]

Post by gamb2009 »

Just wanting to report peculiar behaviors changing languages with built 2281:

Experiment 1: I installed MM5, portable mode, using Spanish (Chile) as installation language. Got, everything in the desired translation. Then I vitited Tools > Options > General menu and Spanish (Chile) Download was pre-selected. I hit OK. A “Product installation” pop-up appears indicating product data. I hit “Install now” button and MediaMonkey screen went entirely white. As I could not recover from there, I was forced to kill MediaMonkey via Crtl+Alt+Del and Task Administrator. Restarting MM5, I could not find Spanish (Chile) because it vanished from the list.

Experiment 2: I installed MM5, portable mode, using English as the desired installation language overwriting the previous installation. Got everything in English (except those nodes created in Spanish in the previous installation when the DB was first created). Then I wanted to install Spanish (Chile) as the preferred language via Tools > Options > General menu. The expected “Product installation” pop-up appears showing product data, MM5 is restarted and I get the full translation applied. Spanish (Chile) is still there in the menu list (Tools > Options > General) for a second try (really a third try) from that point. I select again the same language (Spanish (Chile) and hit OK with no results (I mean nothing happens). I supposed the obvious: there is no change because there is actually nothing to be changed, so I select French language now. The package is loaded and MM5 is restarted in French. When I reselect Spanish (Chile) from that point, MM5 screen turns into white, forcing me to restart it via the Task Administration (Cntrl+Alt+Del). MM5 restarts in Spanish (Chile) version, showing that the translation into Spanish has taken place, but the actual language reported in the Tools menu is “English”. Now I choose Cesky language. Package is downloaded and installed after restarting MM5. But now, Spanish (Chile) is no longer in the list, so I choose English again.

Spanish (Chile) will not reappear again in the Tools menu list, except after a new reinstallation of MM5 choosing English as the installation language. Guess if this is happening with other languages.
