I don't use MM for playing. I have Sonos. ... But it is usually displayed. I turned it off yesterday to simplify a mp4 image I was recording.

But I have confused you ... I am not talking about the fact that there is no status bar, causing MM to overlay the main panel ... which is another MM5 failing IMO ... ie. I have to have the fat playing panel on display just for status bar purposes

Is good that you reported that issue. I would be really pleased if it was improved, but I doubt that it will go anywhere. I reported it early in the beta, but it got no traction.

My report was about the line overwriting itself, see this enlargement.

I am guessing that shadow is left as there is no clear parent object to handle cleaning like when shown in Player. We shall see if it fixes the issue.

My error. I thought that it was overwriting itself.
What is happening is that the line in the status bar is only partially updated for each new track ... ie. it updates the file number, but not the track details
It was ripping a track with a long name, and in the mess down there (due to no status bar) I could see a short line, so I thought it was overwriting itself, but it was stuck showing the short track name from the 1st track ... see example here

[UPDATE] while looking at this issue MM5 crashed ... your submission service is down again(!) ... .el file sent to Lukek
