On instructions from support, I am reporting an issue that might be a bug, to associate with support ticket # 745, opened this morning.
Briefly, I have an 8gig iPod Nano that syncs fine with MM4 but when synced from MM5 (RC5) all the tracks when played on the device will show "-0:00" as the track length. In previous attempts, I noticed that files that were already encoded at 192kbps displayed the correct track length, while 320kbps files (most of my library) showed the zero length. I further note that I also sync an 80gig iPod Classic, and that device does not have this problem with MM5.
The debug log I emailed to support captures the following actions...
1) Start MM5
2) Connect the iPod Nano (which is completely empty)
3) Select a single playlist
4) Click Apply then click Sync
5) Safely eject the iPod
6) Exit MM5.

Thanks for reporting,
I tested with iPod Nano 7th gen now and I can confirm that this issue appears for tracks that needs conversion/transcoding.
