My music collection is in my My Music folder, but I have a couple folders I want to exclude. Setting up a new database for MM5, I chose the My Music folder, which auto-selects the subfolders in the tree, then I de-selected the two I don't want to add. This adds all of the folders (500+) to the import dialog.
Now, when I want to add a new album/folder, I open the Import dialog and it takes forever t load, because it lists all of these 500 directories separately. There's no way to remove them all at once, and removing one causes it to re-load/freeze again for a few minutes. I'm stuck like this now. It's absurd.
Never had such a problem with MM4, as the import dialog didn't persist your folders in a list like this.
Possible solutions:
- allow us to set Ignored folders, so I can just have the main parent folder selected to import from
- don't persist added folders in that list
- just make it faster to display the list
- let us select all folders in the list and remove all at once
- me moving my excluded folders to another dir so I can just import from the one parent folder. (but I'm still currently stuck with this freezing Import dialog and no realistic way to remove all of the folders from the list)

Re: Import dialog hangs / unusable with lots of folders
Right, as I mentioned, if I were to select the top-level folder My Music, it would just add that one, but there are two subfolders under that that I don't want to include (eg music I only use for video editing), so when I expand the tree and un-select those two, then it needs to add every other folder individually, since there is no Excluded Folders option.
also, I would still call this an issue, in that it shouldn't be so easy to get stuck in this kind of situation I'm in, where I have 500 folders that make the dialog crazy slow, with no way to remove them and fix it
Re: Import dialog hangs / unusable with lots of folders
Please capture the freezing in a debug log (step 4b) and attach the log to a Support Ticket: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=86643
The same recommendation as in MediaMonkey 4 is to not have folders you don't want added in the folder you do want added. Alternatively use Collections to filter out folders that you don't want shown, but are added to the MediaMonkey Library.

Thanks. I'm not actually gonna do all of that tho to get a debug log, as I'm sure it's easily reproducible. I submitted a support ticket without it and they can do as they will I guess
Re: Import dialog hangs / unusable with lots of folders
Note: the process of adding files to the Scan dialog was changed to prevent this scenario from occurring.
