Empty Playlists Question (MM5) [#18526]

Hello,
Probably user error and not a huge/serious issue but...

I am running MMW5 gold (sorry, don't have exact version) and MMA 1.4.3.0950 and playlist syncing has been flawlessly awesome.

But I have a couple criteria based playlists that might not be behaving as expected, so thought I'd ask here. Let's say I have a playlist that specifies that only songs that haven't been played in more than 6 months will be in it and I have it limited to 25. If there is at least 1 song in there, all behaves as I would expect (i.e. 1 to 25 songs will also be on the Android playlist). However, if there are NO songs in the playlist on MMW, the number of songs in that playlist on the MMA side will be whatever number of songs in the PREVIOUS sync, such as 25). Syncing again does not change that.

It didn't always do this I don't think (not sure if this started when I went from MMW4 to MMW5 to be honest) but I could have toggled some setting inadvertently somewhere and darned if I can find how to reverse that!

Which Build (Help > About) are you experiencing this with? So the problem is that an empty AutoPlaylist is not replicated to the device on Sync?

I am running 5.0.1.2433 (I was able to have the PC awakened, and then remoted in to check).

I just found a thread about playlist syncing, and so I have now turned off Device -> Library syncing in case that is it (if not, no biggie but I don't want syncing in that direction anyways).

Yes, empty playlists don't seem to sync over. I only have two of that type: 'not played in the last six months', and 'added less than 3 days ago'. The latter one has had no new songs in weeks but I still have 2 songs on my MMA.

I tested with 5.0.2.2513 and both a regular and AutoPlaylist were Synced empty after they were set to empty in MMW.

Updated now to 5.0.2.2513 - I should be able to confirm soon that the empty playlists issue has disappeared (unless I can think of a suitable playlist to create, ha ha).

Edit/Add: confirming that empty playlists sync over on 5.0.2.2513 - hooray!

Perhaps I spoke too soon.

I have two dynamic playlists; one is for music added less than 3 days ago - this one is empty on MMW and also on MMA. I should probably mention that I manually deleted that song from the source rather than the song becoming 4 days old (it was just a test song for testing the sync) and not meeting the filter criteria any more.

The other playlist is for last played > 180 days. This morning I had 7 songs left on MMW and MMA. Today, I played those 7 songs on MMA and sync'd a few times. There are no songs left on MMW (empty playlist) but still 7 songs left in the same playlist on MMA.

MMW version = 5.0.2.2513
MMA version = 1.4.3.0950

There is another report of empty AutoPlaylists not updating (becoming empty on device) on Sync. Can you capture the Sync in a debug log (step 4b) and attach the log to a Support Ticket: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=86643

We've not been able to reproduce, so a log would help a developer analyze why this happens in your setup.

Just to be 100% in sync with our tests. Please make sure that you use at least 1.4.4.960 Build eg. apply to MMA Beta from ⋮ -> About MediaMonkey if not already.

Hello!

I am still having this issue of empty playlists not replicating as empty to MMA. If there is an empty playlist on MMW (5.0.2.2531), after I sync via wi-fi, the playlist on MMA (1.4.5.0960) has the number of songs it had on the previous sync if the song count was > 1. That is, if there were 10 songs in that playlist on the previous sync and now there are 0 songs, that playlist on MMA will have 10 songs still.

The only time I will get a blank playlist on MMA is if I delete the playlist on both MMW and MMA, then create a new one on MMW, and then a blank one will sync to MMA. Once there is ANY song in the playlist that sync's over from MMW to MMA, there will always be at least one on the MMA side, even if there are zero on the MMW side.

Dang, thought I figured out the issue. I usually name certain playlists with a "!" in front of it to get it to show at the top of the playlist listings. I renamed it by removing the "!" and sync'd and the playlist on MMA was empty!

But that was short-lived, as I then added a specific song just to have it not empty in MMW, sync'd (1 song on MMA now), then removed the criteria for that song to empty the playlist to zero, sync'd again... but that song was still in MMA.
