DLNA: Displaying proper nodes [#18137]

Post by greedyzebra »

These may be features the dev team just hasn't got to yet, but asking just in case.

I share videos via DLNA. Since they're videos they utilize, for example, "Actor" instead of "Artist" (though it seems like the same "Artist" field is used under the covers in the tag). In MM, I've removed all the default nodes in the collection but for Actor, Genre, and a couple others. However, basically every node name is displayed when viewing on the DLNA device being shared to (Album, Artist, Classification, Year, Composers, Producers, etc.).

Further, "Actor" is not what's presented to the share device; I just see "Artist." With MM4 only the nodes I'd selected in MM were visible to the sharing device. And those nodes were the same in MM4 and the sharing device ("Actor" was "Actor" viewed in MM4 or the sharing device).

When will MM5 replicate this behavior?

Which Build (Help > About) are you using? For me on 5.0.2 it shows Actors, Directors, Series, etc. on the clients.

5.02.2523.

Though I'm about to upgrade to the 5.02 release version (thanks for fixing the average album rating!).

Note that I too can see Actor in Media Monkey. It's on the Roku Media Player, for example, that I will see "Artist" instead.

Running 5.0.2.2531 and same behavior.

I've also verified the following, which may or may not be related:

Music collection -> Edit Collection -> Sub-nodes:
Only Albums, Genres, Artists, Classification & Files To Edit are selected (checked).

On my Android phone running MediaMonkey Pro 1.4.3.0950:
UPnP -> Select MM server -> Collection described above:
The following is visible: Artists, Album, Genre, Title, Location, Composer, Conductor, Publishers, Album Artists, Producers, Year, Rating, Classification (all of which represent all available choices, far as I can tell).

That's different, customization of which nodes are shown over DLNA isn't possible in MediaMonkey 5. However for the Video collection you should see Actors instead of Artists, etc. over DLNA.

"That's different, customization of which nodes are shown over DLNA isn't possible in MediaMonkey 5."

Then fix that!

I still don't see "Actors" on videos, but will dig into it a little more tomorrow.

Already fixed for 5.0.3 as https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=18137
i.e. in 5.0.3.2600 you can customize the Shared sub-nodes independently from the nodes configured in MM5 UI.

"Already fixed for 5.0.3 "

:D Yay!

Perhaps the problem with "Artist/Actor" is fixed in that version too? I made the collection available to my phone (where MM pro is installed) but still don't see "Actor."

I see Video > Actors over DLNA even in 5.0.2, but in 5.0.3 you can disable that node.
