Motorola Q not recognized in MM

Motorola Q not recognized in MM
I'm trying to help a friend use MM3 to sync music to his Moto Q. The problem is it's not showing in the MM device list. The d_WMDM.dll is loaded but MM is not recognizing the phone for some reason.
Any idea what to try with this? The Moto Q is using ActiveSync 4.2 on Win XP SP2.

Re: Motorola Q not recognized in MM
I know there's a WMP on the PC, but it may be around WMP9. Should it be a later version for the MotoQ to show up in MM?

Re: Motorola Q not recognized in MM
I think you need WMP10 or later to sync to MTP devices.avskip wrote:I know there's a WMP on the PC, but it may be around WMP9. Should it be a later version for the MotoQ to show up in MM?

It was WMP9 so I'm downloading and about to install WMP11. Thanks for the info!

MM does not see my Moto X anymore
Hi,
I have a Moto X Android phone and I used to be able to sync it to media monkey with a USB cable. I had to turn on the debugging mode and then it would show up as a drive. I'm not sure when MM stopped recognizing the Moto X but I think it might have something to do with the latest software update, but I'm not sure.
At this point the MM program does not see the phone anymore . MM tells me "No device connected. The Moto X does show up in My Computer and when I plug it in I get the option to sync with MM or media player or do nothing but that's all.
I have syncing software for outlook contacts and calendar and that works. I tried different ports and restarts etc. Nothing... I have version 4.0.7.1541
Can i get some help please?

Re: Motorola Q not recognized in MM
I have the same problem with my moto X. MM tells me that device is not installed. My question is, what does the media player have to do with Media Monkey?
Why would upgrading to 11 have an impact on how media Monkey works? BTW I do have media Player 11 installed.

Your version of MM is out of date, upgrade to the lastest version which is 4.1 from the MM downloads page.

The WMP installation also contains MTP drivers that are necessary to communicate with such devices.gimmeagig wrote:Why would upgrading to 11 have an impact on how media Monkey works? BTW I do have media Player 11 installed.

Re: Motorola Q not recognized in MM
My version of MM used to recognize the Moto X. I don't know what caused it to stop working. I'm thinking it might have been the latest operating update for the Kit Kat system that in on the Moto X.
I'm kind of hesitant to update Media Monkey because i have really elaborate playlists and when I updated MM the lat time all of my playlists were gone and I had to start from scratch. Is there a way to protect the playlists or back them up somehow?

Re: Motorola Q not recognized in MM
All playlists and track info is stored in the MM database file, which is not affected during upgrades. But it's always a good idea to back up the database file.gimmeagig wrote:My version of MM used to recognize the Moto X. I don't know what caused it to stop working. Re: Motorola Q not recognized in MM
OK, I did it, I upgraded to the very latest MM version . That one is supposed to work with most Android phones. My Moto X doesn't seem to be one of them.
MM still does not see my phone.

Re: Motorola Q not recognized in MM
Does Windows recognize it (is it in MTP mode?), did you check if it's disabled under Tools > Options > Portable Device Sync in MediaMonkey? Have you checked if wifi sync works as alternative?
If Windows recognizes it and MediaMonkey doesn't you can capture the connecting of the device in a debug log (step 4b) which you can send to support: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... ?f=12&t=69
